Is it OK to have a show-off thread?

I have one insane, maniacal cat named Axle.

And two dogs, both border collie mixes.

Rubi:

And Reno:

I love the cat in the sm. My fluffy one loves to sleep on the ironing board when the iron is on. He keeps getting closer to the iron. I am sure one day he will singe his hair.

Mine used to sleep on the ironing board all the time but now that i use it more he doesn't. He DOES want to sit on my lap while I sew, and the dogs are always trying to get under the desk and sit on my feet--half the time they step on the foot pedal.

I love my animals, but sheesh!

One of my dogs used to like to sleep with his head on the treadle of my spinning wheel, while I was spinning. One of my cats loves to sit in my lap while I knit. He doesn't even care that the yarn and needles keep hitting his ears.

Your family is adorable. That Ruby-dog looks like she's got a little Groenendael in the mix. Seeing her sure makes me miss one of my childhood pets....

You know they're both shelter/rescue puppies ... I often think Rubi has some German shepherd in her based on the shape of her face and the way she looks at me sometimes. When she was a fuzzy puppy she really looked like part GSD. Her build and behavior are pretty classic border collie, though, except she doesn't fetch obsessively like most of them do.

Reno is part springer spaniel, I have decided. I saw a picture of one and his face looks SO much like that.

My cat sometimes worries me when he's around while I'm sewing. I'm afraid he'll stick his paw through the flywheel on the treadle or the spoked handwheel. He often tries to chew on the belt on my treadle as it whizzes by. He also watches the needle going up and down like he's ready to pounce at any moment. I much prefer it when he sleeps in "his" box of old fabric scraps across the room. The dog just lays on her blanket on the floor and sleeps while I sew.

Between the gentle clackety-clack of a well-oiled treadle sewing machine and my furry friends, I feel awfully content while I'm sewing.

My furkids are my babies--especially Rubi, the first puppy I've ever raised--but they are anything BUT content-making to be around! Both border collies are young and high energy, but really really codependent at the same time. The cat is psychotic and loves to whizz around the house at top speed. Once in a while he'll cozy up like a good kitty, but most of the time he is wreaking havoc.

I do love my pets. But they are ... challenging.

Your furbabies are beautiful - and they look happy and well cared for.

My kitty is challenging too. She does this thing like in the Matrix where she zooms around and if there's a wall in the way, she just goes up it, and her snuggling is randomly interrupted with biting. On top of that, she desperately wants to help me lay out patterns and fabric. The more delicate and lovely the fabric, the more she wants to be involved.

The advantage of being a beginner is, nobody has told you "That can't be done." This is also the disadvantage of being a beginner.

Thank you

what is it about pets who must be into everything? I'm gratified to know they like being around me (I've had aloof cats before) but really, there are better ways.

If this is what kids are like I'll stick with puppies and kitties. They are hassle enough, and are never going to scream "I hate you!" when they're teenagers. lol
