I am considering this machine, but am looking for feedback? Anyone have any opinions of it? Seen the machine or own it? Also, does anyone know what the price of it is? I hear it is a $599 machine? But see Walmart sells it for $379.

I've called Brother and they can't tell me what the MSRP is. I hate to buy from a company that can't give me basic pricing information.

What are people's opinions of Brother machines in general and vs. Singer?

Thank you.

fatemommy...I would pick a brother over a singer in a split second. There would be no contest as far as I'm concerned.

I think the SE-350 is almost exactly like the SE-270D...only it doesn't have the Disney designs...and doesn't have that silly thread cassette. I had a SE-270 for a while and it was FABULOUS (except for the thread cassette)...I hated the thread cassette so badly that I ended up selling it.

Anyway, I just purchased myself a Brother Innovis 1200...and this SE-350 seems to have magically showed up on the market *after* I purchased the 1200. I had been waiting and waiting for them to release the next model minus thread cassette...but had given up hope.

Long story (already long I guess...I babble) short...if I had know about the SE-350 before I bought the innovis 1200...I absolutely would have just bought that one instead. I can't really comment on how well they hold up....but I'd imagine if you're relatively gentle with your stuff it's probably just fine.Do be aware though that SE-350 only does a 4x4 embroidery area...and now I think I'm spoiled by the 5x7 on my 1200.

Another difference with the SE350 is that it has 7 point feed dog which is better than the previous SE 270D. It is supposed to move the fabric a lot easier.
The arm under the machine seems to be a little bigger too.

Just FYI no sewing machine company will give you a MRSP on their machines. As they have a suggested price range, not a set price. That is why you can go to one dealer and they will say a machine is 2400.00 and another will say MRSP is 2899. but both are right, because it is in the MRSP price range! I work for a dealer so I know how the game is played, they sell Babylock, Bernina, Janome, Pfaff and Viking and let me tell you they all play by the same rules.

Thank you everyone. I ended up buying the SE-350 and really do like it. I wasn't in the market for an embroidery machine, but it's a lot of fun! I wanted letters, but the letters on the SMs aren't that great...since they are just a stitch. But these embroidered letters are wonderful. I just love the 5 fonts, upper and lowercase, 3 different sizes.

Did you end up getting the brother se 350? I've been thinking of buying that one too, but there are no reviews for it yet since it just came out. I'm new at sewing...I mean real new. I take my first class on Monday! I'm very excited though. If you bought it, let me know how you like it.

Hi, yes I did buy it. I haven't used it a lot yet. I've been playing with it. I put some buttonholes on a dress I had just sewn for my daughter. The buttonholes are perfect.

I just received an order of embroidery thread I bought on eBay and can now start embroidering. I had tried that out with regular thread. The letters are fantastic. I also embroidered the dog and cat. There was a little space between the outline thread and the body of thread, but my saleslady said that can happen on these machines. I may not have had enough stabilizer.

Anyway, I think it is a fantastic machine for the price and definitely a great starter machine. Although I've been sewing for many years, this is the first machine I've had that does anything more than straight and zigzag, forward and reverse. So, it's quite a treat for me.

Let me know if you buy it. Feel free to ask me more questions.

Congratulations, it is a cute machine. How is the menu for moving around to find stitches, etc. Is it intuitive? Anxious to here how the embroidery is on the machine. I know our local Wal-mart's still have a couple in stock. They originally were able to carry them and then all of a sudden they were removed from the web siteso I'm sure when they are gone from the retail stores that will be it. At our Wal-Mart they retailed for $374 or$379 (around that price, memory...ha ha!) and our local brother dealer had them for $399 so not much difference. I have an older brother ULT2001 for embroidery and I love it! I think they'll do good with that machine. It is interesting with all the new machine's brother has introduced!

There is another new one that looks a lot like the SE-350 but it is sold only at dealers:

Walmart has the 350 on its website. I think it is $379.00.
