Hi! Just wondering if anyone has the Fabric Mover (or Fab-u-motion...I understand the bed opening is smaller in the Fabric Mover but basically work the same) and would give me their honest opinion on this accessory. I am STILL debating on getting a USED Designer I from my local quilt shop for $1899 OR a NEW QUilt Designer II WITH embroidery unit AND Fabric Mover for THE SAME PRICE from an online store. I quilt ALOT and have been wanting to refine my free motion quilting and find a stitch regulator most helpful. I would also like to start exploring embroidery. The only reason I am leaning towards the QDII is that I can buy the Fabric Mover where as if I buy the DI I cannot afford both right now. The main reason I sometimes lean towards the DI is that it would be bought from a local quilt shop and if I need ANYTHING (training, repairs...) they are nearby. The QDII I would have to be sent off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Angie

I don't have the Fab-u-motion but I did try it out a while back, it is a great thing for quilting but not the price of it. The way it was made it is medal and should be maybe a hundred or two not the 700 they are asking for it. I hope that might help you a little bit. The DI is a great machine will some possibilities in the future. I have the regular quilt table with my Viking machine and it was worth that price. If I had the choice between the two machines I would go towards the D1. but that again is my opinion.

Can you try it out at the dealer? It's one of those you either love it or not. I tried the one on the Pfaff and was less than impressed. However that was right when they first came out, so there might have been some changes since that time.

Thanks fot the feedback...I tried out the fabric mover very briefly...and need to go back, sit down and try for a longer period. I think the reason I was a little hesitant on the fabric mover was because I had previously tried out the BSR from Bernina and fell in love with it...however, a bernina and BSR are WAY OUT of my price range and I do not care much for the local Bernina Shop...they are rather "uppity" and customer service is a big seller for me as I have managed retail business before. I was hoping I was just comparing the Fabric Mover and BSR too much and did not give the Fabric Mover a chance to prove itself...Thanks again.
