I am the proud owner of a Babylock Crafter's Choice machine. I'm about to put a hem on a skirt I'm making and I came across an issue. With my previous machine I have what is called a rolled hem foot. On my new machine I only see a blind hem foot as an option. If I just use a straight stitch would I conceivably be able to work a double-folded hem with the blind hem foot? All I need is the little guide piece that would hold the folded area flat for me.

A rolled hem foot has a spiral shpaed piece that turns the fabric twice, creating a narrow, rolled hem. A blind hem foot doesn't have this feature and will not work in the same way.

You can make a rolled hem without a rolled hem foot by folding once and stitching very close to the edge, trimmning the extra, folding again, and top stitching.

Ahhh I see. Ok. Thank you for replying. I actually used a different foot, my overcasting foot, to sort of catch the ends in and 'roll' the hem. It's not exactly the same(far from it) but it suits my need. I will though, invest in the proper foot because the right foot will make it look right. the OC foot leaves a zigzag edging which looks a little decorative to me, and I love the skirt!

Again, thanks!

I think your machine has a blindhem stitch to use with the blind hem foot and that would make an invisible hem that is turned up a bit higher than if doing a rolled hem.
