Date: 8/4/08 4:18 AM Levent, I bought my first Janome TOL machine in 1984, after always sewing on a TOL European built machine. My Janome was the first computerised machine and at the time, left everything behind technology wise. I still have that machine and it still works beautifully. Since then, I have added a few more Janome sewing machines, two Janome sergers and a Janome CoverStitch machine. I did have another brand serger with air threading and the motor burnt out in that after a few years service and the warranty had run out.
I always ask a service person about the quality of a product and the quality of the components inside the cover.

Date: 8/4/08 9:51 AM I have a Janome 10001 which I brought in Jan of 04. It's been great, except for the needle threader. I've had it replace about half a dozen times and it's currently at the repair shop again for it. But that's been the only issue. It's been great. My repair guy/dealer said I'm the only one with that problem. But I would buy another one. ------ quiltingwolf.blogspot.com |

Date: 8/4/08 8:35 PM I have the Janome 4800 and I've been very satisfied with it. If something happened to it, I'd definitely buy another Janome. I also have the little Hello Kitty machine by Janome, which has gotten very mixed reviews, and it has worked very well for us. At the school where I teach we have 3 or 4 student-style Janomes--I'm not certain of their model numbers. Again, no complaints!
BTW, did you send me a personal message this morning? I read it and didn't have time to reply, and when I tried to open it again it was gone. I don't know what happened and apologize for not being able to answer! |

Date: 8/4/08 9:28 PM I had my New Home MC7000 for abut 20 years. This machine never had to be taken in for any repairs or adjustment - it was in my sewing room ready to sew when I was. I sold it two years ago and it sews today like it did when it was new. The lady I sold it to told me that she loves it and uses it every day. This machine sold me on New Home (Janome). Two and a half years ago I bought the MC6600P. So far this machine is great. I hope it will give me as many years of dependable service as the 7000 did.

Date: 8/4/08 9:29 PM I currently have 4 Janome machines in my studio and use all 4 on a regular basis.
Janome MC7000 is my oldest machine and is relegated to more of a back-up/accent thread machine except that it has a great bar tacking stitch and an eyelet stitch that aren't on my new machine (I use the bar tacking everytime I make men's skating pants). I've had this machine for about 8 or 9 years and bought it used. I had it serviced regularly and have never had to have it repaired.
Janome 634D -- 4 thread serger about 6 years old -- love it, love it, love it .... don't know what I would do without my serger. This machine has been a workhorse and I have put in a lot of long hours on it sewing all kinds of fabrics. Had to replace the knife once and also the thread fork (which I broke).
Janome DC 3050 -- just purchased this one in June and so far I am absolutely loving it except for the lack of the bar tack stitch (see above). Like the variable speeds on this, the auto buttonhole is fab and has a great variety of stitches. I reviewed this one here at PR and I should go back and revise my review now that I've used it longer.
Janome CP900 -- also purchased in June and am still experimenting with this one. Love it for T-shirt hems, sleeves and necks, great for adding stripe accents to the side seams of pants and for making belt loops. Getting a lot of use out of this machine and I'm sure it can do a lot more.
Janome is definitely my machine of choice.
