Date: 8/12/08 1:17 AM Does anyone have a good source for good priced knit fabric, specifically Modal fabric? The only sources I can find for Modal are wholesale. I have some RTW in Modal and I love it. It's comfortable and doesn't pill as much as some knits. |

Date: 8/12/08 1:47 AM Modal is just a brand name for a rayon made by a German company. I've not ever touched modal but I'm thinking it should be essentially the same as any good quality Rayon jersey out there---and there are lots of rayon jerseys out there right now....most have a tiny bit of lycra in them--3% to 10%. I also have found bamboo knit with 3% Lycra to be very like the softer, drapier rayon jerseys that are around now.
I also know that one PR member bought Modal sheets at her local Linens and Things to cut up and use the fabric for sewing. ------ I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine... ETA: I think these are woven, not knit. I have found rayon knit sheets at my neighborhood thrift store which are quite nice, but they say "rayon" not Modal. -- Edited on 8/12/08 1:53 AM -- ------ I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine... She wants me to make a nightgown with the sheets. She got a really good deal on them, too.------ I don't mind going to work but it's that 8 hour wait to go home that's a B!TCH. |

Date: 8/12/08 9:43 AM I've bought some rayon knits from Fabric.com in the past. I don't know if they currently have any.
But then I later saw the same knits for sale at FashionFabricsClub.com. ------ "framed" was taken |

Date: 8/12/08 11:56 AM I've bought modal knits at Textile Studio (www.textilestudiofabrics.com). I don't know if there is any in stock right now, but they do carry it from time to time and the quality of fabric at Textile Studio is excellent. ------ Kim

Date: 8/13/08 8:23 PM You might want to post this question in its own thread. You'd probably get a better response that way. I know people DO order that bundle....couldn't tell you about quality or content, though. ------ I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine...
