Hi, I am considering buying a dress form, but I read a lot of reviews on the Singer and Dritz forms that they sell at Joanns and the reviews overall say they are cheap and not worth the money. Does anyone out there own a Uniquely You dress form? It looks like this might be pretty good quality.... Or if you can suggest a dress form for $200 or less I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Here's a link to the uniquely you form I'm looking at:

Oh...my ...

If you put the term "dress form" in the search box on the upper left hand side of this page, directly under the "Home" tab, and use the drop down box to indicate you want to search the boards for the term "dress form" you will get pages and pages of past threads on dress forms in general and the Uniquely You dress form in particular.

Happy reading!

Hi tampagirl74

I have the uniquely dressform. I love it!! It does take some work getting the cover fitted (Sherril Miller helped me, it took us most of the day). I previously had the Dritz form, the reason I did not like it was I had to pad it out to my dimensions, I never really got it right. With the Dritz form you cannot pin on it.

Here is the address of Sherril's review of the form. This is what made me decide to upgrade to the Uniquely You.

I would really recommend it!!!

betsy,
I was wondering if you would know if this form can be used for awhile as I am currently trying to lose weight. Right now I need the large form w/ cover 14. I want to ask for this for my birthday, but if I'll need to buy a new one after losing 20 pounds, then maybe I should wait? I see that you can buy smaller covers and shape the foam...so I was thinking if I lose inches I could then shave the inches off the form and get a new cover. What do you think?

I just got a Uniquely You form last week, still in the process of fitting the cover with my mom's help.

I bought mine for only $139 from All Brands.

I ended up buying a petite with a cover size 3. The hips are going to need padding out, so I'm planning to use quilt batting for that. So far I really like it.

I too am loosing weight, I started with a size 13 for my cover. I don't see why we can't used the same foam figure, (making the cover smaller)... I am going to try reshaping the figure like you mentioned.

p.s. I purchased mine from Sew Vac Direct (the same website you posted earlier) they seemed to have the best price. Very fast delivery too.
