Date: 9/7/08 11:36 PM This sweet, simple little dress I'm making for my 3-year-old niece has turned out to be the dress from hell! Everything has gone wrong with it and now my machine won't work right. It just started sewing at a snail's pace, even with the pedal completely depressed.
I've done everything the manual says to do for a machine not working properly, like clean the hook race and check that it's plugged in all the way, and no luck. Any of you Kenmore 19233 owners been in my place with this problem? Please tell me there's an easy fix! Thanks. |

Date: 9/8/08 0:07 AM Does that particular model have speed control? I can't tell from the pictures. I know on my 19365, there is one and sometimes little fingers like to slide it. Or, there may be a problem with it.

If I were a sewing machine, all I would have to do is lift up my foot and all my tension would be gone.

Date: 9/8/08 3:14 AM SewPaula, I also have a 19365 and first thing I thought of was if the 19233 has a speed control too that there might be something wrong like maybe being stuck on slow or something.
I hope there is nothing major wrong with the machine. I hope that the wiring is ok. The plugs are plugged all the way into the machine so I wonder if the foot controller is going.

Date: 9/8/08 7:18 AM The 19233 does have a speed control bar ( turtle to hare)on the front of the machine just under the pattern selector panel. Could the bar have been moved to the left towards the turtle? Or is there something stuck under foot pedal that might make it not engage all the way. Every once in awhile I find my 19233 seems to sew slow and it is because of something near the foot pedal that doesn't allow the pedal to "get on the gas" properly. Once I moved the peddle and made sure it was clear all was well. I hope it is something simple in your case. -- Edited on 9/8/08 8:02 AM -- |

Date: 9/8/08 8:32 AM The speed control!!! Yes, that's exactly what it was! Somehow I must have bumped it all the way over to the turtle. You have no idea how happy I am right now. Thanks! |
