Help!! Pattern enabler needed!!
wouldn't it be great if we could somehow set up a pattern purchase program for those of us who can't get to the sales

Oh how envious I am of my southern neighbors!! I always read of your wonderful pattern sales at Hancock's Fabrics and dream of the patterns I would buy. The two closest locations to me are both over 6 hours away.

Ahhhh I dream about finding an enabler to purchase patterns and ship them to me!!!

As a certified pattern collector, I've often wished I could help those other addicts who can't take advantage of the "limit 10" sales. Right now I can't make all the sales since I've moved further away from Joanns and Hancocks. But sometimes I can. Please PM me or email at yahoo and tell me what you are looking for (coordinate your list with the pattern sales, preferably at Hancocks) and I'll let you know if I can do it for this sale. I have no idea what the postage would be! Bet I'm not the only one who would like to enable, I mean help, a fellow collector.

The regular flat rate envelope from any post office holds up to about 10 patterns and can be posted to many countries around the world.
The rates are on the USPS site.
I have purchased and used these to post items home, when visiting in the US.

Several of us here on PR have done that in the past..

I am willing to do it for you if you provide a list and pay for the patterns and shipping.

International flat rate envelope is $ 9.95 USD to Canada. If it holds about 10 patterns, that would add about $1 to the cost of each pattern. Still sounds worth it.

Charm we used to get the 99 cent pattern sales at Fabriland, here in Canada, now we still can get some good prices at Fabricland.

This month Simplicity and New Look were $2.49, from the 2-7th. Vogue is on sale for $5.99 until the end of today and Burda is 50% off from the 14th to 18th.

You do need a membership to get those prices, but I find it is worth the membership fee. They vary which patterns lines are on sale, and they only run a few days, but you will get advance notice via a flyer.

There are several Fabriclands in the Peg and one in Brandon. I do not know how close you are to those stores.Fabricland weekend sale

thanks for everyone who responded!! I will keep you in mind when I come up with a longer list of patterns I need.

It just so happens that our local Fabricland, who had advertised Vogue patterns on sale this week, also had McCalls & Butterick on for $3.49 as well. So, I was able to pick up the two patterns I was after right now.

When I need more, or just want to build up my stash, I will definitely get in touch with one of you and hopefully make arrangements (to pay you for your awesome enabling).

Thanks for now!!
Brenda

Subject: Posting to Australia Date: 8/13/09 10:41 AM

I'm resurrecting this thread to ask if someone would be willing to purchase & post some patterns to Australia that aren't here yet. I absolutely want to make that Simplicity Donna Karan cardi. I know there's a sale coming up at Joanns? Ans while I'm at it there's a couple of others I might add to the list.

I would of course, pay for cost & shipping, and if there's anything I can send you I'm happy to return the favour.

Thanks,
Mel

As a former Fabricland employee, there are a couple of memberships. In Ontario you do not need a card to purchase sale patterns at the chain-owned stores. You do at the franchise stores, which have a different membership card. However the membership card at the chain stores is $20 per year, the franchise membership cards are free.

You DO need a membership card for Fabricland (west stores are from BC-MB) stores to get any of the member offers. Pattern sales being one of them. Franchise stores here use the same cards but are "glitched duplicate cards" and are marked by a sharpie "D" They are still valid at all stores. Membership cards at the west stores are pro-rated, the price does come down over the year and theres the option of either a one year card or the three year card. I could keep going on. But Fabricland does have decent sales for patterns, and yes theres an "Ultimate sale", I'm looking forward to it this weekend.

Theres is always E-bay to find patterns. I'd be willing to help you out getting patterns if you live that far away from a fabricland. The currency would stay in CDN in the event that the dollar drops.
