Tomorrow night at 8pm the Lifetime Channel will present a program on the life of Coco Chanel. The program stars Shirley McClain as the older Chanel and Audrey Tautou as the young Chanel.

Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would cast kooky, New Age Shirley McClain to play a sophisticated French fashion designer. But I'm planning to watch every minute of this three hour show. I saw the commercial, and the costumes look great.

Its sounds so good - I'm envious - I think I do not get this channel with my cable service, but I will be scouring the TV Saturday just in case it is on a channel I get out here.

Thanks for the reminder. I saw an ad on the TV and was excited to see it but didn't see when it would be on or the channel. Since I don't get a schedule this will help be find it and not miss it.

Perhaps it's because she's an extremely talented actress

Hi! I'm Shirley MCClain. I'm not a French fashion designer, but I play one on tv.

Actually you're talking about two separate movies. Shirley McClain is in the Lifetime movie on TV and Audrey Tautou will be in a french move called Coco before Chanel that will be released soon. Of course, I have to see both, but am really looking forward to the french version. I think it will be more accurate. I hope both are filled with gorgeous clothes.

My husband and I are looking forward to seeing the Coco Chanel movie tomorrow. I just finished reading her biography which unfortunately left out pictures of all the beautiful clothing.

My hope is to sew to the very end. They'll find my head slumped over my precious Kenmore 19606 and have to pry the seam ripper from my cold, dead hands.

Was anybody as disappointed as I was in this wretched thing? It was basically a romance novel with hats. I should have assumed it would be junk being on Lifetime, but I'm a little annoyed. If this had been a biography of any of the major male fashion designers, how much of the 3 hours would be dedicated to their romances and how much to their business and their art? The last hour was better than the first 2 (I almost quit watching) and the fashion show at the end was great, but I thought it was a shabby way to treat a woman who accomplished so much under what were certainly difficult circumstances. I expect there's a book or two on Coco's life that might be worth reading - - you certainly won't learn much about the "artist" from watching this silly thing.

Thanks emg for the update. We don't have cable or dish so I was wondering what I missed. Sounds like not much. I was thinking of all her beautiful clothes, but from your report, there were only hats,
oh well, guess I will wait for the French version.

Thank you for my laugh of the morning The actor who played "Boy" seemed to be limited to bulging his eyes meaningfully as a method of expression. Bad, very bad . . . I fell asleep for the last hour so I'll take your word for it and try to finish if they run it again.
