Date: 9/21/08 11:13 AM Hello everyone!
I've been reading tons of threads and picking up lots of great tips but I'm still in need of a bit of advice.
I have decided to make my own wedding gown for my wedding next August (I'd say I'm a comfortably intermediate sewer). I've made a few muslins and I'll be taking the top from this dress: New Look top
and the skirt from this dress: Vogue bottom
I'm about 125 lbs and an a-cup so I don't have much to fill it out and I'm worried about the back laying flat correctly. As a design detail I've pinched the seams and other fabric to acheive this effect click here
Here are my questions: I want to use silk taffeta as the fashion fabric - what would be the best underlining material that isn't too hot for an August wedding but will keep the dress looking crisp rather than flowy? Also, so much of the advice here is great for strapless bodices, but what would be the best way to structure the inside of this gown, particularly to stabilize the deep v-back?
I have Susan Khalje's book but a bit more advice would be greatly appreciated. The muslin is just about fitted so before I move forward any more I'd love to hear some thoughts! Thanks. :) -- Edited on 9/21/08 11:22 AM -- |
