Subject: Wear to find beans for bean bags ?? Date: 10/30/08 11:43 AM Hello everyone,
I found this great home dec pattern in Burda to make bean bags, but I cannot find the beans to go in it. All the stores I called don't carry it because they would need to stock beans forever.
Would anyone know where to buy those ??? I live in Montreal Canada but I would by form USA without any problem.
Thank you so much.
Anne

Subject: Wear to find beans for bean bags ?? Date: 10/30/08 12:11 PM The best filler for bean bag chairs isn't the little styrofoam beads. It's best to use shredded foam; it's lighter, more durable, and more comfortable. You can call around to local foam suppliers; around here (Maryland) you can buy a big bag of shreds for around $50 -- enough to fill a good-sized bean bag chair.

Subject: Wear to find beans for bean bags ?? Date: 10/30/08 12:52 PM check out the home decor stores in your area..the company I work for sells the bags of styrofoam peanuts in a stand along with the bean bag skins. You might also check out shipping and packaging companies. Around the holidays, we sell more for packaging than for the chairs.
good luck with your search

Subject: Wear to find beans for bean bags ?? Date: 10/30/08 1:09 PM I did a quick Google check and found a few possibilities --
One place in the U.S. (I entered "beans" in this company's search box and they seem to carry different types of fill as well as the actual bean bags):
http://www.beanproducts.com/c/BeanBagChairs/Bean+Bag+Furniture.html
One place in Ontario that also seems to sell the beans/filler:
http://www.hotfrog.ca/Companies/Bean-Bag-Factory
And my other idea is to check with futon dealers in your area. I did a search like this several years ago when my son bought himself a futon to sleep on and needed filler for it. Here's the Google listing of the futon dealers in the Montreal area:
Futon dealers in Mtl. area
Hope this helps! If not, there are no doubt other places on Google that I didn't look at.
Amitiés,
Joan

Subject: Wear to find beans for bean bags ?? Date: 10/30/08 1:25 PM i purchased a large bag of whole wheat kernels at a local farmer's market here in BC and have been making stuffed frogs, bears for babies and kids, etc which can be warmed up in microwave. just adjust how much you put in for size. a healthfood store would have wheat for sale. when you warm up the bags, it smells like you're baking bread in the house. |

Subject: Wear to find beans for bean bags ?? Date: 10/30/08 3:31 PM If you use natural products such as grains, remember to make a waterproof protective cover to put them in, especially if the item will get heavy use. (Although perhaps not if you're making one of those microwaveable neck pillows or something.) My son's futon filling was actually a corn-based/biodegradable product -- he insisted on this -- so he had to put the filling inside plastic before putting the futon cover on. ------ my shield and my very great reward (Gen. 15:1)
