I posted this further down the message board under Patterns, but maybe it should be here?? Not sure, but if this is the wrong place to post this, I do apologise.

Mamu Design patterns: I have never seen these patterns until today but am now thinking of buying one. I cant find find any reviews of them on here, and am just wanting some feedback before I go ahead and buy (as they are quite expensive to get here in New Zealand)
Are they good to work with? Easy instructions - in English? Are there clear picture instructions? Pro's & cons? Thanks.

These patterns look fabulous. More trendy than what is generally available here in the US.
On the website you will find a photo turtorial of each pattern plus the intructions in English. I would suggest you look them over to see what you think.
I wouldn't hesitate to get one if I could order it from a US webstore.

They do look gorgeous, dont they? There are no actual stockists of these patterns in New Zealand either. Here in New Zealand we have an online auction site called Trade Me, its very similar to Ebay. I was browsing the patterns when I came across a few listings for these Mamu patterns. I'm not sure if the seller is importing them to on sell or if they were some they bought overseas for themselves and no longer want, although they are listed as brand new. I have actually just now bought one, the Nike one. So in a week or so I will have the pattern here in my hot little hand and will be able to see for myself...Yay!
I did have a look on the mamudesign.de site for tutorials but for some reason its not working for me. When I click on the PDF links for the tutorials it comes up with a blank page and tells me its done loading.
I will come back and let you know what the pattern I have bought is like when I have it here :o)

Me again! I just thought I would add here how I got on with the PDF tutorial problem, just in case anyone else reading this also buys one of these gorgeous patterns and has the same problem. I used the Contact Us link on the mamudesign.de website and explained the problem I was having trying to open the tutorial links. I very quickly received a reply apologising for the inconvenience, apparently its just an international issue. The full tutorial was included on the email, so I have now been able to print them off - now I just need the pattern to go with them..lol
Kudos to Mamu Design for excellent customer service :o)

I belong to a sewing co-op that just did a buy on these patterns and I bought 4. I have a new granddaughter and the styles are adorable. Haven't got my patterns yet, they're enroute from Germany to California.

I've never sewed a Mamu pattern but they are quite popular in Germany and I have friends who really like them. So far, I heard no-one complaining

I just got the Christina top pattern in. I am going to make it for myself. I will try it this weekend and post how it works. The patterns themself are like the jalie patterns. Nice.

Bunte Fabrics now have a big sale on, and some Mamu patterns are included. Has anyone already used one of these patterns now? I just wondered as the last post was several months ago!!!
Cheers!

I just finished a little dress for my DG. I was surprised the pieces included the seam allowances. The skirt had a ton of pieces and the directions didn't make sense, but I found the correction on their website along with a tutorial. The instructions are kind of vague and I did widen some of the SA, I think 1/4" is pretty narrow to make an elastic casing. The dress I made showed a view with an apron, but there was no pattern pieces for it or instructions for how to cut it. You get alot of sizes and styles for the money. I'd give them a grade of B minus. My grandaughter is coming Thursday and I will take a photo of her wearing the dress and do the review.
