I love sewing for my kids. Once I started, they kept asking for things that they wanted me to do. I would like to see what everyone is sewing for their kids and share what I am doing.

I also am sewing for kids.Last 3 grandkids are boys- no girl in sight. I am using Kwik Sew patterns- but I am having a hard time finding anything over a size 7. My fav pattern is KS#2146 (got it on EBay) . Tried Burda #9525- the jury is out on this one. My youngest grandson (now 6) won't wear anything without a fly. Any suggestions on getting a jeans pattern over the size 7?

I've made 3 swimsuits and 3 pairs of shorts last week for my DD. They happened to come from OOP patterns so I wasn't going to write reviews, but I guess I should.

I don't ENJOY sewing for my daughters, it eats into sewing time for me, but I need another outfit like I need a hole in my head! And DD9 is oddly shaped, so making "custom" seemed easier than dragged all over town trying stuff on.

I love sewing for my daughter. So easy and rewarding.

I just bought this:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/51645
and this:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/10014

I made her some dresses from this by leaving off the sleeves and using the back as a front:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/19271

and I have this as well:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/25266

Plus, I've "captured" some Lands' End dresses for her:

I sew for my son and well, I get tired of the lack of boy patterns! I guess there are only so many ways to do shorts, shirts, etc. But still.

Thanks for the mention of Kwik Sew 2146 - I've saved a ebay search to look for that one. It looks like a great pattern for when my son gets older (he'll be two in a few months). As for patterns for older boys - I don't know. I think I've seen people complain about the general lack of tween patterns in general.

I just posted a review of an Ottobre Pattern last night. My Review

Courtney - those are some cute clothes! They do make such cute girl clothes!

Well, I am SO TIRED of fixing those poorly-made Disney Princess dresses. The girls want to wear one every day, so the netting gets torn easily, elastic stretches out, stepped on. I've got to say "2 repairs and that's it!"
It's pretty quick to sew the pillowcase dresses for girls for the hot summers. I haunt the garage sales/thrift shops which yield nice ones-- sometimes vintage embroidered--for play dresses or nitegowns. The moms also like the shirred type for dresses and tops.
There are a couple Blogs now for Boys clothing if you search online. I print out a lot of freebies for kids which don't take much paper.
I picked up Heather Bailey's 2009 book "Weekend Sewing", at Tuesday Morning--which, BTW, gets lots of discount knitting/quilting books and sometimes sewing notions.
It has 6 cute kids patterns with sheets enclosed, plus 8 for Mom and others for Home Decor. Her Huck Finn pants for boys and a basic collar shirt are very cute.

Iīm not sure how old your son is, but the pattern book Sewing for Boys is really good! Iīve really liked what I have made from it, and I have friends who have it and love it too.

I also sew for my LO! He will be turning two in just over a month...which has me happy and sad lol My little baby isn't so little anymore.

He is hard to fit-thank goodness for pants with elastic button loop inside!! He is a solid 32lbs and 36" tall; built tall like his dad who is 6'6"!!

I'm currently working on Jalie 2912 for him. I'm making it in a sz 3 to fit his 38" girth. He is in gymnastics and boys biketards are ridiculously hard to find and/or a bajillion dollars!!
