Does anyone know if vintagesewing.info is down or something? I've been trying to go there, but it just takes me to GoDaddy.com (which seems to be one of those random web directory/hub-type places). Is this happening to anyone else? I feel like I just passed by there a couple of days ago and everything seemed fine. I really hope this - *whatever* it is - is temporary...it would be so sad to see such an amazing resource disappear from the web.

It's not just you. What I would say has happened is that vintage sewing have lost the domain name (usually failed or lost renewal payment) and someone has taken the opportunity to purchase the domain name. They do this to use the traffic generated by the previous owners for their own purposes. Does anybody have contact details for Vintage Sewing Info or is on their mailing list (though the mailing list may have been lost with the domain name)?

You can still get at the info via Google (for now).

Try this Then click on the "Cached" link for each page on the site that you want to go to. You can then save or print the info you need.

Oh no, that was one of my FAVORITE sites!

I really upset!! I loved this site.

I tried sending them an email - it bounced back. :(

Luckily, I did manage to download a few of the books a while back.

What a sad loss of an invaluable resource!! I didn't go there often, but that's where I got the pattern for my ham.

The text can be accessed, but unfortunately the pictures not =(. I am really sorry, as I just read a few chapters last week and was going to study it bit more. I have a few pages in my scrapbook saved, but not all of it.

Wow, so it really *is* gone??! This is so sad...I wonder what happened? I even remember seeing some stuff that suggested that the webmaster was in the process of scanning more books from the 1950s....could it be that maintaining the site just got too expensive?

Again, this is really sad - it's crummy when a site you like goes down, but this one's extra personal because, other than PR, it's one of the main places that taught me SO much about sewing (to the point where I went from never touching a machine to pattern drafting and making my own outfits and costumes in the period of a year).

Fortunately, it seems that if you use the version accessed from the Wayback Machine, you CAN access the pictures. Don't know how long that'll last though....

I wanted to double-check my email before offering . . . A while back I had asked her if I could share (for free) the PDF copies I made of her books and she gave me permission.

I haven't had a chance to clean all of them up, but if there was a book you wanted, I might have it. I will work on getting a list together of the ones I've downloaded and PDF'd.
