I started a thread about women's underwear patterns, and discovered quickly that I am not alone-- *MANY* of us have had it with RTW panties!

How about you? Would you like to make your own panties? *OR*-- are you a nice sewing man who'd like to make something gorgeous for a friend or loved one?

I have a few deadlines and a trip in early April, so can't get started in earnest till April 6-9 sometime... but my goal for this spring is to Master the Panty. I have so much cool knit fabric around here it's not even funny. Surely I can do a better job than Victoria (whose secret, at least for me, seems to be to make something that *doesn't* fit).

One rule: as great as it would be to see fitting photos, there's a PR rule that we need to do all PR-displayed photos either on a mannequin or laying on a flat surface. The reason for this is that PR has tons of members, all from different walks of life and with different sensitivities. It *is* okay to post a link to a photo album elsewhere that shows underwear being modeled-- just let us know in your link that this is the case, so that those who would be disturbed can make the adult decision to not go there.

Thanks all-- can't wait to see what we come up with!

I'm in! I need some new underwear. I'll have to figure out where to get some underwear fabric. I have lots of knits but none of them seem to work for underwear. I do have some stretch lace though, hmmmmm . . . .

And really? Pictures of underwear on bodies is too offensive for some people? My swimsuit pictures are on here. Those are no less revealing than a bra and underpants.

I'm in, though I'll refrain from on-the-bod pics ... maybe if I lose a kilo or 10!!!

Please count me in. All my photos will be in the 'flat' state, I don't own a dummy and you are definitely not going to see this dummy modelling any underwear. Your computer might blow up.

I'm tempted by this too - having read the other thread... and just before that having been into Target over here and discovered that the knickers that they used to sell and that I loved (literally loved) are no longer available...
so i'll be trying to make a pattern from one of them and then replicating it. I do however also have the KS book and might give their option a try too.

I am as ever amused by the PCness of the photo rule - but I am also appreciative of it... I prefer taking sensitivities into account...
and bluntly I'm not so keen on seeing me in u/wear so wouldn't expect anyone else to have a great enthusiasm either!!

thanks for this

I'm in! I have a McCall's pattern for swimsuits (M4848) that I think I will use. It has a brief and boxer brief (shorts) option and I'd like to try both.

I think I am going to use some type of breathable wickaway fabric and see how that goes.

I'm in! I'm fed up with panties that don't fit properly.

I'll have a go at the Kwik Sew panty pattern. The reviews say that pattern runs big.

** Edited to say that I mean the panty pattern in the Kwik Sew Beautiful Lingerie book.

It's a custom-made designer original. I made it myself.

I'll bite. It will be fun to do something other than the bride/s sewing that has been consuming my sewing time lately.
I have a few patterns that I could use- a Kwik sew and a Jalie. I'll dig them up this aft.

I'm in! I'll dig out my panne velvet and make a few more favorites! My photos will also be in the flat state, and I really appreciate your taking the time to address the sensitivities of others. I would feel uncomfortable taking a photo of me in my panties, for a number of reasons, including feeling jealous of others and their svelte bodies...

Oh yes, count me in! I already have some fabric scraps that will work, and I know I have some of that picot edge lingerie elastic somewhere. I think I'll cut apart a pair of older panties to use as a pattern.
