I am growing tired of mixed results with altering commercial patterns. Sometimes it works great, sometimes not so great. I don't want to spend my time making multiple muslins to tweak the fit. I know I am not alone in the fit boat.

Couple of years ago I made pant pattern using Trouser Draft book by Kenneth King. These are the best fitting trousers I ever sewn. Commercial patterns came close after much tweaking, but not quite as nice. Now I have TNT fool-proof pant pattern.

I am finally taking time to do the same for shirts and jackets. Two weeks ago DH gifted me 3 books: Kenneth King's "Moulage" and "Basic Sleeve", and Lynda Maynard's "De-Mystifying Fit". Would anybody be interested in making a Moulage with me? You might already have it waiting for the perfect time to try it. If not, it is available here on PR and it ships very fast. I received it within 2 business days after placing my order.

I might be interested. I've been trying to get motivated to do it and it's on my list of sewing resolutions. Business has been slow so this might be a good time to do it. Have you started yet? I'll dig out my book and see if I can find the moulage I started. I hope I didin't expand....

Great!

I started a few days ago. It took me about 2 hours (late night hours) to finish the moulage. I found a typo in the calculations sheet. I don't have it with me but I will post it tomorrow so you guys can use it while drafting your moulage.

I sewed the first moulage together and was pleasantly surprised by the fit. I had a couple of issues with it.

Number one: the shoulder seam was too far back.
Number two: There was a small amount of extra fabric in front armholes.
Number three: the sway back wrinkles.

I didn't take a picture because I didn't think anybody was up for the sew-along.

I will have to redraft mine. My measurements have changed a little bit, but oddly enough, my hip is slightly larger, but waist is smaller. And bust remains the same.

And I think I did something wrong the first time... Is it suppose to look like this?

My Attempt at moulage.. first one.

Do you have a pic of your moulage?

I did the KK moulage about a year ago. The fit was amazing. The only area that caused me trouble was the bust. KK has adjustments for a fuller bust, but nothing for a small bust, so I had to wing it.

If you have a small bust, I covered my adventures here.

Good luck, everyone!

I bought this when it came out and it's still sitting there. I just don't have the time to do it now, but I am very interested in seeing everyone's results.

I have wanted to get the trouser book. I am 5 ft tall and have a hard time buying ready made pants in the store. I think I will order this book. I am confused regarding the moulage. I know that it is a sloper and that slopers are to help you with pattern fitting. I have a problem with getting dressed/blouses to fit correctly thru that arms and back shoulder area. How is this moulage going to help me? I have thought of buying this book also but I bounce back and forth.

Thanks Carolyn, I'm sure that will help me. I'm heading over to KKs website now.
