Can anyone tell me what the fabric (or treatment) is called that was used in the skirt in this photo? It appears to be some kind of stretch fabric with random, freeform cutouts. Underlined, of course, in possibly another stretch fabric. Any ideas where I could find fabric like this? Hopefully in a lot of subtle, pale neutrals? Thanks for your time.

Sorry, I couldn't get the hyperlink to work with this photo for some reason.

Any information on where we might find a larger photo?

I found it in the Spring 09 runway show and Style.com has a larger pic of it in their "details section.

It might be a knit because it's not raveling, but it also could be a microfiber. I'm not certain it's a stretch fabric. Did Threads mention anything about it?
It looks to me as if Zac Posen just took a piece of fabric and slashed it. I wouldn't buy it that way If I wanted a piece like that, I'd do the same thing he did and do the slashing myself.

Maybe it is laser cut? I have seen some eyelet that had a similar look to that (flat edges, but no raveling) that was laser cut.

Ah! Great point.
I just did a google search and guess what came up on top? The website for lasercut.com that did the laser cutting for Zac Posens collection.
It looks like they'll do custom projects. How cool is that?
And, I wonder, how expensive?

Kaitlinnegan,
Interesting, I've never seen an eyelet like you describe that would be similar to this photo - this "laser cut" is interesting, and probably very difficult to sew?
