Date: 5/6/09 2:10 AM Everything in the Eileen Fisher line looks so relaxed and uncomplicated. Do commercial patterns exist that would allow someone to replicate these garments? |

Date: 5/6/09 3:46 AM Sure. Have you looked at Textile Studio patterns or Loes Hinse's patterns? There are also many patterns in Burda and the American Big Four that could easily be adapted. I think the trick is more in getting the right fabrics to showcase these simple garments (Fisher uses a lot of silk and a lightweight linen knit that is almost impossible to find here). |

Date: 5/6/09 8:20 AM They are simple lines, and what you would find anywhere else. I've seen these same styles in Kwik Sew. She apparently uses a lot of silk, which will make for the drapeyness and flow.
It's interesting looking at her things listed on the Nordstrom's site. I used to shop there alot, when I was working and one of Eileen's tops was about what I paid for a whole outfit. But that was a while back--times have certainly changed! ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." Jean-Charles Boisset, Winemaker

Date: 5/6/09 9:21 AM I have seen styles very similar to hers (sometimes exactly the same) in Kwik Sew, Loes Hinse, and The Sewing Workshop patterns. Sometimes Vogue has similar patterns too.
Her lines are actually very simple. It's all about the fabric and the drape. Her fabrics are not very easy to find--I think she has a lot of them specially made-- but rayon or silk crepes, lightweight linens, fine wool knits, and the best cotton-lycra knits would probably work well. ------
