It sounds like we have enough interest to organise a day. I can be available most days so long as I get notice (that's what comes of working for my husband!.. )

Has anyone got ideas of where we might go to get one or two shops in and a nice lunch? And perhaps if we could narrow down to a suitable day? All ideas welcome...

Hi! I'm in. A Friday suits me (no children in tow, no husband to explain where I'm going to). If Fridays suit everyone, what about the 26th? Lyn arrives on the previous Friday.

What kind of fabric shops do you think we want to visit? (I'm a little excited about that). Vonne was just telling me about East Coast at Lawnton. It sounds as though there could be a few bargains there. Otherwise, Sckafs and Gardams are close together in Indooroopilly now aren't they?

Thanks for starting this thread.

Any day with me is fine and friday sounds great ! If we wanted to extend the day into friday evening, Southbank comes alives with the Friday evening markets...very electic and colourful.

East Coast at Lawnton is a Treasure Trove! They used to have a shop right near me and EC is responsible for my very large stash !!! The turnover is fast and the haul will depend on what is not sold out on the day. Prices are very reasonable, $7.95 max for quality cottons, linens and everything in between. The drive is about 30 mins up Gympie Road from Brissie. Sckafs and Gardams will be nice to visit too.

Oh sounds like fun. I'm in too.
Fridays are usually good for me too. Although any day is OK with a bit of warning.
There's a place at Stafford called Forever Fabrics run by a Vietnamese (I think) woman from the back of her house. Have been in there and its crammed full of all sorts of fabrics. All cheap, can't vouch for quality, but lotsa bargains I'd say. No notions in her shop, just fabric. Think we'd have to warn her of us coming in though.

Don't know of any other shops near EC at Lawnton though.

I'm in (my husband is already rolling his eyes!) What about Friday June 26th? I won't have a car (and not too sure if I'm quite willing to venture out to driving on my first trip over! Let me know where to meet everybody and I'm there!!

I can hardly wait.

Lynn, we will be looking forward to welcoming you to Brissie

brrmm, I stopped in at Forever Fabrics once and the lady is trying to sell the business as start a ladies gym in the shed ...the fabric stock looked similar to the that from the 80's and 90's

Yesterday I had to take my overlocker to Clontarf and stopped by East Coast at Lawnton and if my stash wasn't already overflowing from my LA haul, I could have added to it very easily

How does this date suit everyone? If we set a date to aim for we can then start planning where we shall go.

Gardams/ Sckaffs at Indorroopilly suit me as they are easy fro me coming from Toowoomba but I am happy to visit other shops if anyone knows of them.

I hope someone will be able to give Lynn a lift. Depending on where we end up I may be driving past.

Anyway for starters.. hows Friday 26th June?
