Hi everyone! I hope you all got home safe and sound...
Okay. Could that trip have POSSIBLY been more fun? I don't think so. What a wonderful weekend in Portland! I am not home yet, but feel so energized and rejuvenated from being around all of you this weekend.
Hey... another round of thanks to Deepika, Kathy, Melissa, Annika and the sadly-missed Kellie R. You guys really outdid yourselves. And a huge thanks to two other people:
**the sweet, bright and *very* talented Emilie at Jalie for coming and being a sponsor for our prizes, and
**the ever-wonderful Pati Palmer for spending an entire day with us, sponsoring our prizes, teaching us, and telling us how well-dressed we all are. You warmed our hearts, Pati!
Also, special thanks to Fabric.com for sending us the goodies for our bags. We love them!
Deepika will set up (soon) a Flickr group for all our pictures. Please, everyone upload your pics to the Flickr site so that everyone can share. That was way too good a weekend to miss a single moment of!
Can't wait to see what you all start making now!

I agree, it was a totally blissful but exhausting 2 days! I want to thank EVERYONE for being so nice and friendly and talkative. I'm really just a wallflower geek at heart and I get quite nervous about going to events where I don't know anyone. I'm so glad I went... sewing passion brings all sorts together!
Money is going to be saved to try and make another one of these!

What a wonderful weekend! Thank you, Deepika and volunteers, for putting it all together, and thank you, all, for the fun and inspiration. I loved seeing everyones favorite fabrics last night and I can't wait to see the transformation from flat-fold to function.
As soon as the Flickr group is up, I'll post my pictures. I got some nice shots at Mill End yesterday while I was in recovery from fabric overload!
Edited to add: the green top I wore yesterday was actually from Burda WOF 11/08 (#103B). I didn't get around to sewing it until this spring -- thus my confusion If you're interested, here's my review .

I so agree with everyone...the weekend went so smoothly and the volunteers did so much organizing. Much appreciation and a giant thanks (edited for spelling) to the volunteers, to Pati Palmer and staff, and to Deepika. Awesome weekend.
I have no pictures (hanging head a little bit) because I sent my husband off to the aviation museum with our camera. He had a terrific time there. But, I don't need pictures to remember all the many smiles, kindnesses and new friends made. Oh, and all the fabric I toted home!

I just got home, very tired, lugging a very heavy suitcase of fabric, but so very happy! What a wonderful group and so much fun....Pati Palmer was a real treat.
Diane, thanks for finding the Burda pattern.
I just want to start sewing right this minute.

Just wanted to say thanks everyone, it was a lot of fun and as a sewing beginner I did learn quite a lot.
I stumbled on the mother lode of gingham last night, some of which is quite cheap. She also has some nice eyelet, which I see people actually making nice dresses out of this year. Ones that are for adults, not for first communion or christening.
And real natural fiber sewing thread. Wow. Can't get that at Joanne's, at least not at the one near me.
I have not done any sewing yet but my husband did. He sewed an explosive into some thrift store stuffed animals and took them target shooting. Go figure. Him and all his guy friends up late last night sewing up stuffed animals. That would be a great youtube instruction video, followed by a documentation of the results. They were terrible looking animals too, ones you just have to wonder what kind of person would think they were worth donating.
Thanks again, I probably should have said to those I met, yes I am in pain but I am ok. I don't really know what to say when people worry and I don't do pity well so I avoid talking about it. I just am kinda over flexible and did not stay fit as I aged, so I wore out my joints, am having the regular effects of aging a bit early. On the plus side the gene for being stretchy means women in my family don't get stretch marks or get many wrinkles. But I did not have kids. Oh well. I am getting wrinkles too dangit. Oh well, they are npt too bad. At least I am still stretchy. (: If I sit more than about 2 hours it starts to really kill so that was a long time, but it was worth it. I think there were some funny looks on my face because peole kept asking if I was ok. (:

I agree with you Mary! This past weekend was a blast!!
I do have the tendency to get a bit claustrophobic in crowds, so I was appreciative that the stores were so big. It was incredible to finally meet so many wonderful people who are so talented, creative and willing to chat all about their latest creative exploits.
There were so many who I really wanted to meet, but 2 1/2 days is just not enough time!!
DH knew that I was going to spend some money and I am happy to say, I stuck to my budget. (I guess that's the beauty of carry on luggage.)
My DH took our camera down to Southern CA for a short road trip with his brother. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

It sounds like everybody had a great time! I'm so happy to hear that!
And I can't wait to see more pictures!

Thanks so much for coming and for making this such a wonderful weekend! I will post more when I get back home. I am here in San Jose with family for the next few days, but I did create the Flickr group so you can post your photos there.
