Date: 5/23/09 1:37 PM I need an application that will let me see which patterns I have and the yardage they need... and maybe an application that will help me keep track of my stash.
does anyone have a solution? |

Date: 5/23/09 2:22 PM I looked and haven't found anything! There are kniting apps and a quilt app.
Maybe we can use this thread to put our needs out there. There has got to be an iphone person lurking just waiting to write that killer app!
I too would love a stash (pattern and fabric and notions! because why buy a navy blue skirt zipper twice?) database. It'd be even cooler if it could co-ordinate with my patternreview wish list! or with the pattern company websites. But I also need to have my vintage patterns in there!
I'd like to be able to input my stash (pattern and fabric) on my laptop so I don't have to type on the tiny ipod touch scene so maybe it'd have to be integrated into a website. ------ -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Date: 5/23/09 6:09 PM Thanks Leslie! I didn't see your original post! The developer conference is coming up in a couple of weeks so maybe I can get it going! |

Date: 5/24/09 11:52 AM My entire pattern collection (thousands) was on Excel but I recently opened it in Numbers because I don't need all the features in Excel for such a simple table and there are fewer hoops to jump through. Bento and other non-relational databases are just tables. I see that there are iPhone spreadsheets on Versiontracker. Maybe one of those might work.

Date: 5/24/09 12:46 PM I've been using Touch Closet
on my iTouch to keep track of project planning, and I think a stash app based on the same idea would work. I've been putting together outfits of, say, a fabric swatch photo or scan, a photo or technical drawing from the pattern company web site and adding shoes, bags and jewelry.
Instead of items there could be pattern and fabric categories.

Date: 5/24/09 1:17 PM I think about an iPhone app idea for months ... more or less ... and my first thought was to migrate StitchBuddy to the iPhone and display embroideries, maybe with featuring the camera ...
But honestly: What do you think how many in sewing / embroidering own an iPhone, are interested in an app and will pay some money (how much) for it? At the end of the day the development efforts will be paid with 1 USD / hour ...
For simple inventories I'd use a spreadsheet or simple database apps or not my iPhone at all!
Just my 2 cents, Matthias
P.S.: Just searched the AppStore and found MyStuff: I don't know the app, but based on its description and the screen shots, a category "Fabrics" with photos and an integer attribute seems to be feasible ... -- Edited on 5/24/09 1:26 PM -- ------ StitchBuddy - Embroidery on Macs, iPhones and iPads |

Date: 5/24/09 4:49 PM Make it searchable by pants/skirt/hat/dress and by pattern maker. Not that I have an iPhone, but I do wish there was an app for that. ------ Cidell
