Does anybody know where I can purchase the Sew/Fit Videos from Joan Anderson? I have them, but they are so old that they won't play anymore.
From my research online, it appears that perhaps another company has purchased the Sew/Fit name and aren't carrying the videos.

I am seeing the Sew/Fit manual, but not the videos intended to go with the manual.

Any information on the videos and where they can be purchased would be greatly appreciated. If I can't purchase the videos online, perhaps someone will sell me their copies?

Thanks,
Dr. Deborah

Go to www.hiplinemedia.com. I have somewhat learned the Sew/Fit method also and really like this way of altering patterns. This company has a DVD for pants, but I do not see a DVD for altering dresses or blouses. You could e-mail them and ask.

Happy Sewing!

Blessings,
The Sew/Fit video covers I am looking at are NOT Hipline Media. I have all their DVD's, have had them since 2005.
On the covers of the Sew/Fit videos, I read:
Sew/Fit: The Basics: The Pivot and Slide Method of Adjusting Patterns Featuring Joan Anderson
and the second video
Sew/Fit: The Basics: Dresses: How to Make A Pattern Fit Your Body featuring Joan Anderson

I can still see the Dresses video, but the first one is just lines on a screen, which my video recorder cannot correct. I don't see any mold on the video to cause the obscured screen. I really must see the details of what she is doing, and can't do that because the automatic tracking cannot correct the problem. Joan Anderson does an exceptional job of teaching.

Many thanks for your comments,
Dr. Deborah

Hello again. Several years ago, I called Hipline Media and asked them about Joan Anderson and Ruth Oblander. I think Ruth's daughter picked up where Ruth left off as far as providing materials that teach this method of altering patterns. I did actually ask when would they put out a DVD for altering blouses and dresses, since they had one for pants, and I was told that they would eventually do that. That has never taken place as you are aware. I just received from Nancy's Notions her new book and DVD on Pattern Fitting with Confidence. Nancy uses the pivot and slide method and demonstrates on the DVD, but you also need the book (it goes into more detail). I believe that the information Joan Anderson put together in her videos is not available anymore, but give the Nancy's Notions information a try. Nothing will be like the original videos you have, but the information on Nancy's DVD and in her book will help you accomplish what you are trying to do. I just viewed the DVD and am satisfied with the information. It will definitely help me alter my patterns. I hope this helps.

link to DVD that JoAnne mentioned.

I don't have this Sewing with Nancy DVD, but it sounds like it covers the basics that your broken tape covered.

It appears that Nancy's DVD is on fitting pants and skirts, not bodices. Does she have one on bodices?

Edited here: The info on her website is a little confusing. She does mention jackets, etc. in the first paragraph, but then in the second paragraph it seems like the DVD is really about skirts and pants.

Is there any possibility that a video or photo place can clean up the tape? It may worth a try as you will be able to keep the video you like and it probably will be cheaper than buying a new (and different) one. Just a thought.

This is Nancy's DVD and accompanying book: http://www.nancysnotions.com/product/sewing+with+nancy/books/pattern+fitting+with+confidence+book.do Or you can go to her website (www.nancysnotions.com), click of "Sewing with Nancy" (at the top), then "books" (from the left side), then go to page 2 and you will see "Pattern Fitting with Confidence". Click on that and you will see the book. Right now, you can get the book and DVD for $27.98. The book goes into more detail about altering bodices, skirts and pants. (Chapter titles for bodices: bustline, dart, hipline, waistline, sleeve, shoulder, back, helmline, and sleeve length changes). I hope this will help.

I have her Fitting Finesse book from a long time ago. I also have her pants fitting book from around the same time. Do you know if "Pattern Fitting with Confidence" has more information than the two earlier books?
