Date: 6/17/09 10:20 AM I have been on a quest for a great white shirt! Having narrow (forward) shoulders and a full bust (not to mention small waist and big hips) has made this somewhat of a challenge! I have found one great pattern from BWOF see review. Next I would like to try the Palmer Pletsch pattern 5433 and compare the two.

Right now I am just finishing up another version of the BWOF pattern, this time sleeveless. thought it would be fun to have a sew along to discuss patterns, design changes, fit issues, fabric, etc.

Date: 6/17/09 10:24 AM I'm working on a couple of silk camp shirts, but have a piece of white summer shirting that is next. Not sure quite what to do with it because it will need a cami underneath. But I really need a white shirt or shirts. ------ Marilyn

Date: 6/17/09 11:22 AM White shirts are definitely my "go to" when I want something to wear without having to think about it. I am in great need of some sleeveless and short sleeve (camp style) shirts for summer! ------ blog: encue.blogspot.com

Date: 6/17/09 11:25 AM Thank you for starting this. Maybe this is the push I need to get back to my fitting-woven-blouses ordeal. I stalled, yet again, out of frustration. I got the bust to fit, but the sleeves/armholes are a mess! After I finish my dress, I'll jump in. |

Date: 6/17/09 11:58 AM I JUST made a sleeveless version of 5433, and so far I like the fit & construction.
I also just completed a princess-seamed white shirt, also a McCall pattern I've made a few times. I love the pattern and that particular pattern needs almost no adjustment--immediate fit. |

Date: 6/17/09 12:41 PM I'll join you. I have several patterns traced but need to put them to fabric. I always lose my nerve after tracing and altering the pattern... then I go trace another. This will be my goal: break that cycle, make that shirt. ------ Leah

Date: 6/17/09 4:39 PM Cute pattern. I'm hoping that design changes will be one of the things we can explore in more detail in this sew along. 2 years ago (I think) I used the blouse pattern in the Sew U book by Wendy Mullin. She has a lot of great ideas for how to change up a pattern once you get the basic fit. I really want to see what people can do - so that I can steal shamelessly their ideas!!! ------ blog: encue.blogspot.com
