I have read every thing here that I can find on posting pictures. I know that I am doing something wrong, but I cannot figure it out. I want to post a picture from my PR Photo Album. I copied the HTML from the picture in my album then went to my posting about my hem in Pattern Modifications. When I click "image" it says I need the HTML or something. At this point I can't even remember what it said. I tried pasting the HTML that I copied and it pastes but it does not make a clickable link for the picture. I just do not know what to do next. I hope someone can help.

You're not the only one having problems. When I go through the steps to copy the HTML and paste a clickable link into a message I get the following error message

"You have reached this page in Error or the page you where looking for was not found.
Please Click Here to go to PatternReview.com Home Page"

We both need some help! What are we missing?

Can you each describe in slightly more specific detail the steps you've already tried? Perhaps try the steps again and document each step for us as you go, so we can try to spot where the problems are.

I went to my Photo Album, clicked on the HTML button beside the picture, copied this:
http://www.friendsofpr.com/elainedo/patterns.jpg
I left out this from the front
I have tried it with including these as well.
Then I went to my message on PAttern Modifications about my hem and I tried many things. I tried hitting the image button and got "Error You must enter an HTML" but I don't know where to enter it. I tried just pasting the HTML in the body of the message and just got the above letters that I copied but it would not bring up a picture. I tried pressing the http:// button but that didn't work either. I have tried so many things that I don't really know what I did.
I see that the things that I did not copy did not show up in my post. I left out photo from the end of the HTML

Now I am going to paste the whole thing and see what happens.photo
As you can see I still do not have a picture. Now the things I left out are showing. Before there were just red x's.

Now when I went to check on this there was a picture. What did I do? Why do all the letters show and not a "click here"

I did it!!!!!. I just had to copy the whole thing and not leave anything out. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

To test myself, I tried a clickable link. Someone posted once to just click on "http://" and follow the directions. Ah, no. Maybe that works for some people, but not for me.

Here is what I did, step by step:

---right click on the URL (address) you want and click on Copy from the dropdown menu

---open the posting area

---click on the "http://" button. (I have IE7, so have to allow scripted windows. To do this click on the yellow bar which comes up near top of screen, and I click on "temporarily allow") which could be why I have to ---

---click on "http://" button again

---box comes up in upper left

---right click and hit Paste (The "http://" is highlighted, but no need to delete it as it automatically goes away)

---then click OK

---another box comes up in upper left which has "My Website" highlighted. No need to delete it but type in whatever words you want to use as a clickable link (as I used "good site" in my previous post)

---"Preview" message to check for errors

---if all looks good, click on "Post Message

---resume breathing

I just figured it out. I was copying the HTML generated by the HTML box on my photo album and copying it straight into the message instead if using the HTML code buttons.

The dialog box on the photo album is a bit confusing because it says "To insert a Clickable link to your photo, copy and paste the following html" Actually you have to edit out the html stuff and just enter the URL.

Test link

Huh? I have no idea what you said. I know absolutely nothing about html. But what I do know is that is a cute kitty.

Edited to add that I am glad you got it figured out.

AZ Cat uses an online photo gallery which provides a HTML snippet linking to the current photo. This code includes something like "<a href=... >" and an URL to the image itself. It can be used with the "http://" button on PR.

If you want to insert image into your PR posting, the "Image button" just requires this same URL which will (automatically) be used in some HTML code ("<img src=...>").

So two different codes and results, both requiring an URL to an image: one clickable link and one to include the image. Of course both can be combined to have a clickable image:

Another way to get the URL of an image is just to right-click it in the browser and select "Open in new tab" or similar (depending on the browser). The URL will be shown in the address of the new tab.

I am going to try to post a picture again. I still don't really understand how to do it. Here goes.
I guess I did it, but what I copied included stuff that won't print when I try to type it. Some of it is href which I thought was not needed.
Now all I have to learn how to do is how to open two parts of PR so I can have my posting and my Album open at the same time. Right now I have to copy the picture, close that, then write my message and paste the picture. If I want to add another picture I have to close the message, copy the picture and add the second picture to my original message by editing it. I know there hasd to be a better way but I can't seem to get it to work. I have just installed Internet Explorer 8. It talks about having tabs that can be opened at the same time but I don't understand how to do it.
