There is a Bernina 2000DE for sale for $390 and a Bernina 1200DA that has only been used a couple times for $425. I am a beginner, so I would like something easy to use. I know the basic features of these machines, but which would be a better beginner's machine? Thanks!

I am unfamiliar with the 1200DA, but I'm still happy after years with my 2000DE. Have you tried reading reviews for each machine here on PR? Good luck with your decision!

I have the 1200DA and I am more than happy with. I don't understand a lot about serging and this machine just makes it so much easier. I have used it on wovens, some knits and tried a rolled hem. It is very easy to thread too.

The machine is so easy to use. I have never had a problem with getting a good stitch but must admit to user error and have trouble getting it looking perfect.

Don't know anything about the 2000DE so can't comment. I paid $500 for mine about a year ago and was the best investment. HTH

Since October 2014, I've sewn 14 yards! It's nice to see my stash decreasing at this steady pace.
