I have ordered a number of vintage patterns from ebay lately, and they have all arrived missing pattern pieces, even though they were described as complete. The sellers have always given me my money back, but I would rather have the pattern.
Has anyone compiled a list of ebay retailers that really check to see if the pieces are all there? The feedback sure hasn't reflected my experiences.

Oh Cindy that must be so frustrating

I am interested in anyone's advice on trusted sellers too.

So far I have only purchased from people claiming that the item is unfolded/uncut but it sure limits the patterns I can buy.

What is equally disheartening are sellers who obviously buy patterns from thrift stores etc and have no interest in checking to see if the pattern is complete (I know it must be hard and time consuming but it makes it hard for buyers too).

I have been tempted so many times to buy and just hope it is okay but I have heard to many stories about patterns being almost unusable with bits missing, pieces ripped, instructions gone.....

I have found one Australian seller who details exactly what is missing from her patterns, what a blessing.

They dont sell patterns, but if you are looking for machine accessories I can highly recommend the seller 'dafent'. They have an excellent selection of good quality accessories at good prices. They deliver very quickly, great communication and the postage costs are fantastic, especially when sending overseas. I bought from them several times now and will do again next time I decide to buy some new feet or something like that.

Oh, I never thought of that, but you may well be right.
If I knew how to delete my post I would.
Sorry PR

Advertising your own business or wares is what is prohibited. Compiling a list of businesses with which you have no affiliation is not the same thing. A list of vintage pattern sellers would be no different than the pinned list of internet fabric sellers thread.

This dealer is great! He (I presume it's a guy because of the way he speaks), has slant needle feet and one time he sent me two of one instead of two different kinds. He not only refunded the price of the foot, but the shipping both ways.

I was concerned because I read that someone was just banned from here the other day for advertising without permission and I didn't want to see anyone accidentally step into that hornet's nest.

Just to give a moderator's perspective on this...

Advertising one's own product on PR is prohibited unless it has been cleared with Deepika (usually by becoming a Merchant of PR) or is in the classified section. Deepika posted a letter about this here. However, updating other members about a great vendor or store is just fine. It's helpful to mention in your post that you have no affiliation with the seller or store (the abbreviation 'NAYY', meaning 'Not affiliated, yadda yadda...' is helpful).

As far as being a 'hornet's nest'... no one has ever been banned from PR without much discussion among the moderators and with the member in question. It is exceedingly unlikely that any PR member would be banned for advertising with no conversation between themselves and the moderating board! The only time I recall any banning of an IP address with no discussion is when the address was clearly a 'bot' (an automated advertising stream that posted on the boards without an attached 'person' to talk to).

I don't want to hijack this thread... just want to be sure that people feel comfortable posting on PR without fear of being banned without notice.
