Date: 7/30/09 4:54 PM I ordered Pants for Real People around the 15th of the month. The tracking page said estimated delivery would be July 27 -31. Well tomorrow is the 31st and it hasn't even been shipped yet. I need this book! I've never bought anything off line before, unless it was from a direct source, example: Macy's, Penney's, Sears. And that's only been twice. How long to I give them and what recourse do I have? |

Date: 7/30/09 5:43 PM I order way too much stuff from Amazon and have never had a problem. Is it coming from a third party? Sometimes that can delay things a bit. ------ http://kimsewsilly.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 7/30/09 5:55 PM I order way too much stuff from Amazon with excellent service. Outside sources do take a little more time though but they're usually pretty quick as they have to be to remain in Amazon's good graces!
How do you know it hasn't been shipped yet? You don't always get a shipping notice, just a delivery window. HTH! ------ "I hate housework! You make the beds, you do the dishes--and six months later you have to start all over again!"

Date: 7/30/09 6:41 PM Peg's right. You won't always get a shipping notice. Your book will likely arrive tomorrow, especially since you didn't get a notice that shipping had been delayed. I order candles from Yankee Candle periodically, and usually receive an email that my order has shipped AFTER I receive it (the same day). Go figure. |

Date: 7/30/09 6:45 PM I go in to the tracking page on My Account and it tells me that the item has not been shipped yet. I don't think it's coming from a third party. I don't know how that works. When I ordered it, it was new and I didn't see anyone elses name. |

Date: 7/30/09 6:51 PM I've had excellent experiences with Amazon. On the rare occasions there's been a problem they've been more than accommodating. Contact Customer Service. There should be a link from "Your Account."
If an outside service is used Amazon will usually send a follow-up email asking you to review the service. Be candid. -- Edited on 7/30/09 6:52 PM -- |

Date: 7/30/09 6:52 PM I've had continuing problems with Amazon and late delivery. Sometimes a month to six weeks after ordering. I live in the DC area so it's not as though I live far from the beaten path. If I can get it from B&N, I do. |

Date: 7/30/09 6:56 PM Amazon works with other vendors/suppliers so that's what I meant by third party, not the private sales part.
I just ordered two pairs of shoes from them last week. The first pair was sold by "Amazon LLC" was purchased on 7/23, shipped on 7/25 and I got them on 7/28. It showed the tracking and ship date. The other pair was sold by "Aldo Shoes" and does not show it's been shipped yet but has a deliver estimate of 7/29 - 8/3 and I got them today. It never showed a shipped date I'm assuming because of the third party thing.
I wouldn't worry yet. I've had nothing but amazing experience from buying things on Amazon. Just for kicks on your account under your order who does it say "Sold By?" ------ http://kimsewsilly.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 7/30/09 6:58 PM That's interesting. I just had a horrendous experience with B&N.com. I ordered a hard-to-come-by fashion drawing book that cost almost $115. It wasn't available new on Amazon. The book was damaged; it had some kind of gummy residue on the front and the spine was dented. It was the only copy they had left, and after I made several phone calls and wrote several emails with uploaded photos showing the damage they would only discount it 15%. Given the condition of the book and the cost I thought that 20% was fair, even generous on my part. I told them I wouldn't be using B&N again unless it was an emergency.
Amazon, in the same position, probably would have given a 40 or 50 percent discount, and/or some other benefit. |

Date: 7/30/09 7:00 PM I always get a shipping confirmation from Amazon and half the time I receive the product sooner than they predicted. Third-party orders are always slower. |
