Hi all -- I'm a Boston-area member and would love to host a potluck some evening.  Well, probably a potluck/fashion show!  It's such fun to see the pictures of what everyone's sewed, but there seem to be a lot of us in this area and it would be great to meet in person.  I know some people have met up a few times and are heading north for fabric shopping.  I live on the south edge of Boston, in Hyde Park; it's between JP, Dedham, Canton, and Milton -- very easy to get to from Rt 95/128.  North isn't always easy for me.  So if there's a more southerly group, I'd love to host something or meet somewhere.  Anyone??

Great idea, Julia!

It sounds like our group is spread out all over the Boston area, so there's a good chance that if someone has difficulty getting to a certain location then another member can help out. I'm up in the northwest suburbs, as are a couple other members, but I'm always happy to carpool. :)

Julia, we're going on our 2nd fabric crawl next weekend to Fabric Fix in NH. I know that's a long way for you, but any chance you can make it? The more the merrier. :)

Julia,
Is this a potluck that includes S.O.s? Where they could eat and grumble about sewing, or is this a sewists only? Either way is fine, just curious.

Count me in!  I'm in Burlington, but I grew up in JP, so I know the area pretty well, and I'd love to get together with folks!  I've been sewing so long, and it's always been a solitary pleasure, but I would love to make it more sociable!

Yay!!  :D I'm excited about this!  Erin, I'd love to have SO's.  My dear accommodating husband is good at helping move parties along smoothly -- I'm sure non-sewists can find things to talk about.  We've had a maximum of about 25 people here for dinner.  That did not, of course, involve all of them sitting at a table, but it seemed to work fine.

Choosing dates is always the slow part, so just to begin, the following dates all work for me.  Thinking something like 5:30pm until whenever:
Sunday, Oct. 20th
Sunday, Oct. 27th
Saturday, Nov. 2nd
Sunday, Nov. 3rd
Saturday, Nov. 9th
Are any of these especially good or bad?

How far up into NH is Fabric Fix?

I have no clue where Hyde Park, Canton etc are but this sounds like fun.  I'd prefer a Saturday rather than a Sunday just because I don't like being out late before a school night (children's school night that is).  Marie Kolanda

Julia,
Fabric Fix is in Manchester, off of 293. I imagine it takes less than an hour from where 93 and 95 meet in Woburn.

November 9 doesn't work for me, but all the other days look good. :)
