Date: 9/5/09 2:21 PM I have had no success in finding a yoked shirt pattern. I'm looking for one that has slight gathers in the shirt body and buttons down the front. |

Date: 9/5/09 6:35 PM Can you be a little more specific....do you want the yoke only on the back or front and back too...with gathers where? Coming from the yoke? Do you want a specific type of collar? I assume woman's pattern, ? Do you need special sizing, like fba already done or are you able to do your own if needed?
You can always add your own front yoke to a regular shirt pattern and if you needed an fba, rotate the dart fullness to the yoke front...if that is what you are talking about.
There are patterns on the market now with gathers coming horizontally from the front placket (hot patterns and silhouettes both have one of these I know)....is that what you are looking for? |

Date: 9/5/09 8:29 PM What I have in mind is a woman's shirt that buttons (or snaps) down the front, any kind of collar, with gathers coming horizonally from the front yoke. Doesn't matter if there is a back yoke. No special sizing is needed. I'll check out the companies you recommended. Thanks |

Date: 9/6/09 1:39 PM This is my favorite style for a basic shirt! I have an OOP Simplicity pattern 8501 that is probably exactly what you want. It comes with a nice assortment of sleeves, too. I never reviewed it, but as I remember the sleeves may run a little tight but otherwise it's a really nice, versatile pattern.
I could swear that Simplicity has a new pattern that's very similar, but for some reason their new website keeps hanging for me. I did find some from Hotpatterns, like this one. Kwik Sew has a number of shirts with yokes; if you want to try rotating the bust dart to the shoulder and converting it to gathers, KS 3027 looks like a good one to start with.
ETA: Aha! How about Simplicity 2807?? -- Edited on 9/6/09 1:52 PM -- |

Date: 9/9/09 8:41 PM If you like Kwik Sew patterns, there is an old pattern #2953, with a yoke, long or short sleeves, with a pleat in the middle of the back. There is also a new pattern #3555, with a yoke, long or short sleeves, WITHOUT the pleat in the middle of the back. |

Date: 9/13/09 1:51 PM Thanks for everyone's suggestions on patterns. I'm afraid I wasn't clear on what I was looking for. The pattern I have in mind has a front yoke that ends at the high bust. |

Date: 9/14/09 0:20 AM You mean you are looking for a pattern with a very deep or tall yoke ending just above the bust but with gathers at that level? -- Edited on 9/14/09 0:22 AM -- |
