Is Pfaff 560z the same as Pfaff 645f?
They look exactly the same, so I was just wondering.

I bought a real gem of a machine at a yard sale for $5, it was a made for Pfaff machine called a 560z. It looks exactly like the Pfaff 645f on the net. When I even emailed Pfaff for the owner's manual, they said that they had no knowledge of the machine, but sent me the manual for the 645f. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows the history on these machines. Mine was made in Japan, the serial number had come off.

This one seems to run really perfectly, I'm happy to have found a bargain. I LOVE to be able to adjust both the top thread tension and the bobbin case tension, it really helps to create that perfect stitch, you know?

I have a Pfaff 645 Hobby -- not sure if that's the same as a Pfaff 645f? But anyway, my Pfaff looks ALMOST the same as the photo I found on line of a Pfaff 560z:

I'm assuming the functional differences would be minimal. There seems to be just a slight cosmetic difference, but I can't totally tell from that photo. I don't know that much about these things, but if it has a 500-number model number, doesn't that suggest that this model was either a bit earlier than the 600-series or was slightly less upscale (ha ha, not that my 645 is upscale)?

This is the same as my new machine as well! So I joined. Also, I am pretty sure that 645f is the name of the machine and the number 560z is actually a reference to the power of the machine. On the bottom of the base (under the sewing machine) the model says "645f".

How do you change the tension of the bobbin thread? I just wrote to Pfaff asking for the manual--thank you for the suggestion.

I just got a Pfaff Hobby 560Z as well. And in response to all, it is the same as the 645f. I am posting a link to a scanned version of the manual. Don't try downloading as it makes you install a toolbar. Use the Skitch app if you have a Mac and just take screenshots of the pages you want. The oiling and care are the last couple pages in the manual. Here's the link to the manual: http://www.manualowl.com/m/Pfaff/645F/Manual/333717
