I think this looks like a fun/good workout but I'm wondering at 60 will I make a fool of myself if I take a class at my gym. Anyone tried it?

It's exercise with dance moves to Latin Music. I saw it on Dr. Oz today. You can google it and a couple of examples of it on Utube will show up as well as more information.

So I went to my first Zumba class today at the gym and I have to say it was such a great workout and fun. I was lost a a bit and I am rhythm challenged but it was fun and I think I will definitely try it again. The music is wonderful.

I have a friend near Atlanta who is a Zumba instructor and she swears by it (and has toned up a lot!!). Ive been tempted to find an instructor out here (that or belly dancing)

First off: DISCLAIMER _ I work at a women's only gym

That being out of the way, I can say that the Zumba classes that we host each week are PACKED with all ages. We have an 85 year old super granny (as I call her) that is there every week for two of the classes. There are university students as well as all the ages in between. We love the class as it is a great equalizer ... there is not a lot of skill or coordination involved. The LAtin style music is awesome and fun and the movements are not heavy on choreography compared to a step class or other dance type classes. The movements are easily scaled to your ability.

Go for it!

Do they let you take a free first class so you can try it? I am a good dancer (belly dance, but also Latin) and when I went to one class, it was fine, but a different class, with a different instructor, was too fast-paced or something.

BTW in the first and second classes, there were women of a variety of ages. Some looked to be rather old but they were hitting those steps, even when I couldn't!
