I want to sew this dress, S2550

Here is a link to the directions for the bodice (only the photos.)
Link to instructions

I'm confused and can't figure it out myself. The only way I can see to do it is to sew the lining the the center front pieces as an underlining, and then sandwich them between the fashion fabric and lining fabric side fronts.

Ugh...

Any help is welcome.

It's tricky, but do able.

What you do is,
1) skip basting in step 8
2) instead of sewing the side fronts to the center fronts in step 9, you sew them to the back sides (both lining and fabric).
3)You would then sew the neckline and armholes (wrong sides together).
4) now baste (ala step 8)
5) now sew the seams for the center to side fronts. This is going to be very tricky b/c of the curve. You will need to open out the back and sandwich it around the front, and this is a tricky princess seam to be doing something like that with.

But like I said do-able. Not easily though.

Thank you for your help. I'm still a bit blind by this, but I printed out your notes and will just start on the bodice (thankfully I have gobs of fabric) and see what happens when I follow your steps.

I'm also thinking I can line this without using the facings. I'm at least going to try.

Wish me luck.

Good luck ... and ... You won't need the facings.
