Date: 10/21/09 12:55 PM I'm working on a BWOF jacket that calls for Pellon/Vilene G785. Is there a US source for this interfacing, or does anyone know of a good substitution for it? ------ emadethis.wordpress.com

Date: 10/21/09 7:46 PM Personally I'm not a fan of Pellon interfacing. But I am a huge fan of Fashion Sewing Supply's interfacings. They have sew-in and fusible types, from sheer to tailor-weights. Excellent quality, excellent prices.

Oops forgot to add; if you want Pellon (mfg name) Hancock's and JA's carries it (or the Texas branches did). -- Edited on 10/21/09 7:47 PM -- ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! Date: 10/21/09 8:42 PM I am going to second the vote for Sew Exciting's interfacings.
I am making a jacket right now using her Pro sheer and Pro weft. The interfacings are all 60" wide which is economical and if you use the pro sheer to underline or block fuse it lines up really easily with wider fabrics. ------ www.nancyksews.blogspot.com |

Date: 1/17/10 6:53 PM Hallo , Just reading thru all the info about Pellon interfacing. I'm in the Uk and am coming to Puyallup next month and want to buy and try some of your interf. I see that Pellon is the same as our Vilene? and that you dont particularly recommend it. I'd love to know why so that i can be armed with a bit of knowledge when i get to the Expo. All the best |

Date: 1/17/10 7:10 PM Hello! I find the Vilene (which I used for years when I lived in Europe) just doesn't look and feel as high-quality, and changes the hand of fabrics more. You can see and feel the difference between the Pellon and Fashion Sewing Supply's interfacings...FSS is softer and more supple.
It's like 100% cotton fabric: you can find the stuff for $1.00/yard. You can also find it for $100/yard. Or more. A lot more. Same fibre, but as different as night & day.
You are going to have so much fun at Puyallup!!! I'm quite close, but it's my Very Busy Time at work so won't be going to the Expo.
If you want to try the FSS interfacings, she has swatches; or if you wanted to try a yard each etc, you could try emailing and asking her if she could mail them to your hotel so you get the low postage charge. ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! Date: 1/17/10 9:34 PM I think the Pellon interfacings found at JoAnn Fabrics, etc in the US are NOT equivalent to the Vilene interfacings sold in Europe.
It would be great to know which of the FSS or other premium brands in the US correspond to the various Vilene offerings described on their .de website. ------ blog: goodworks1.wordpress.com

Is there anywhere on the web that will show a list of Vilene vs. Pellon equivalents? I am trying to figure out what I should buy in the US if a pattern calls for Vilene S320 interfacing and Vilene H30 fusible wadding. |

Date: 1/28/11 6:50 PM That's probably Vilene H630 you are looking for (not H30). |
