Date: 10/28/09 2:27 PM My needle plate keeps coming off after every few stitches! It comes off from the back and it has nothing to do with the tightening screw in the front because that is tight. It looks like the mechanism right under it, behind the feed dogs, starts going higher and higher after every few stitches and eventually gets so high that it ends up pushing it off. It makes a loud clacking noise. Any one know what I can do besides take it in? I need to finish dd's Halloween costume! |

Date: 10/28/09 2:40 PM Which serger do you have? Does it have more than one plate so you can change over for a rolled hem that has a narrower stitch finger and if so do you have the correct plate on the machine? |

Date: 10/28/09 11:14 PM I have a Simplicity Frontier. It does have interchangeable plates and I do have the right one on. |

Date: 10/29/09 1:46 AM Wow, sort of a mystery here. The Frontier is like the Babylock mechanical model. Both are distributed out of Tacony.
I know the front screw is the screw that tightens the plate to keep it in place and that is the only screw needed to loosen to remover the plate, then there is the back screw and there is a hole in the rear left of the plate that fits over the rear screw and the plate should sit tightly.
Maybe check the free arm to see if it is positioned properly and not crooked causing to plate to be seated incorrectly. I Imagine you have already cleaned under the plate too to remove any fuzzy demon. |
