Date: 11/3/09 4:59 PM Help!
I'm out of Swedish Tracing Paper. I've always bought it from Debbie Cook's Coop at a good price with reasonable shipping costs. But Debbie has closed her coop.
Can anyone tell me why it's called it's called Swedish Tracing Paper? Is it actually made in Sweden? If so, is it known by another name, which would explain why I can't find a supplier anywhere in Europe.
I've tried alternatives but nothing is as good as STP
I'd really appreciate any help ------ Chris |

Date: 11/4/09 2:24 AM Hello Debbie, thanks for the information about the Ressy's Coop I'll go and take a look.
I'm still wondering why it is we can't find it over here as it's called 'Swedish Tracing Paper'. Is it actually made in Sweden? Should I be searching for it by another name or for another purpose?
I'd really rather to buy some from closer to home as the shipping from US always cost much more than the paper itself.
Thanks,
Chris ------ Chris |

Date: 11/4/09 7:45 AM Have you tried MacCulloch and Wallis?
It's not what I think of when I think Swedish Tracing Paper but it's bound to be less expensive than what you can order from here. I used to live in Sweden and it was called mönster papper. Mönster means pattern. I still have a roll of it but it's dwindling. Sorry - the label off the roll is long gone.
Also you may want to try Panduro Hobby. It looks like the paper is not in stock online but some of the stores might have it.

ETA: I'm not sure if Panduro is anything other than an online vendor in the UK. I don't recall ever seeing one there. You may be able to order it from one of the Scandinavian Panduro sites though.

Date: 11/4/09 11:28 AM Hello Jatman,
Thank you for your suggestions and links. I've already been to MacCulloch and Wallis and they only sell the paper type tracing paper and dot and cross paper. I followed your links to Panduro and called the helpline number but was told that they are out of stock and discontinuing their pattern making paper

Date: 11/4/09 11:39 AM Hi Chris,
This is where I used to get it in Sweden:
Knapp-Carlsson
Online shopping isn't really big in Sweden so I don't know if they'll do it or not, but they might. I would suggest contacting them via their website. English is spoken everywhere so you could call but I think it's just easier via the site. They may be able to suggest an online vendor or give you the name of one of the companies that make it which may make your search easier.

Date: 11/4/09 12:33 PM They've always been incredibly helpful there. It was a great resource, too. If you poke around the website I think they have some pictures of the store - so old fashioned and cool! Yes, please let me know how it goes and if I think of any other places, I'll let you know.
Just wondering if you've checked any of the stores in the Berwick Street area or Goldhawk Road area? (Never been to Goldhawk Road but got some good info from Melissa Fehr's Blog.)

P.S. Because of your post I've just signed up as a member of the coop! Need to see if I can order STP here!

Date: 11/4/09 12:34 PM You see this is what I find puzzling. Clotilde describe STP as used by European dressmakers so why is it so difficult to find it here ------ Chris |
