Date: 11/15/09 8:03 PM Good Evening,
I am not sure where I should put this, so here goes. I need help... My daughter has found ice skating and likes the pretty dresses for gobs of money. In my mind I can handle this, I'm a great seamstress I know how to do this. But the big question is fabics. I've got my Jalie patterns, so i'm ready to sew. But what should I sew with?
I'd like to make a fleece top dress and some practice skirts. I went to G Street, JoAnns and have been haunting the online stores.
But, where oh where do I find Polartec Powerstretch in girly colors with coordinating lycra for the skirt? Please send me in the right direction... thanks for all of your help!!!!

Date: 11/15/09 10:25 PM The company that makes powerstretch doesn't make regular lycra spandex fabric, so finding matches might not easy. This is the best place to buy powerstretch http://www.milldirecttextiles.com/
This is great place to buy fabric for skating outfits, www.fabricdepot.com They have a great selection of glistenette which is hard to find.
Spandex house in New York City is good too. All of the stores have reviews in the website section,
-- Edited on 11/15/09 10:29 PM -- ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 11/16/09 4:19 PM You don't mention where you are from but I'm assuming the U.S. -- Spandex World and Spandex House in New York City are great places to start and they will send you swatches so you can check out the colours. I know Spandex House has colour co-ordinated spandex/lycra (both shiny & matte), chiffon and mesh.
Also check out Kwik Sew for girl's skating dress and skirt patterns.
I don't know about the Polartec and Lycra co-ordinating colours ... as was said previously. You will probably have to try to match and hope for the best.
Good luck with the dresses -- how old is your daughter?
