I have a RTW parka with uncomfortable sleeves, and I'd like to add stretchy ribbed sleeve cuffs inside to keep the snow out better. (Did any of that make sense?)

I stumbled across some last winter, but the supplier was out of stock and I never got around to doing anything about it.

Does anyone have a source for ready-made stretchy ribbing cuffs? OR for the ribbing itself, if I need to make my own? I was planning on just hand stitching the cuff in place, but I would need further advice on making the whole thing myself.

Thanks!!

The Rainshed sells ribbing in a couple of weights. You can get a swatch set delivered for a few bucks, or you can take a flier on the color. They have good stuff and reasonable prices.

well, one clever tip I read somewhere suggested cutting the ribbing off an old sweater and attaching it. You could cut it off, finish the edge nicely, stitch it up and be ready to go in a heart beat!

You can use ribbed socks, too. Just cut off the feet and use the ankle part - lots of colors, weights, fibers, all available locally.

You could even knit up some ribbing, and if you send me the measurement, type of yarn you want to use, whether you want them thick or thinner, I'll write up the "recipe" for you. I promise I won't even think of asking for a double-over, loop-d-loop cable anywhere. Honest.

Though, if you want cable, I can do that too!
