Date: 12/7/09 2:06 PM Hi there all, have been following the competition and reading the thread, almost on a daily basis...What great fun! I'm considering entering, after a friend of mine arrived on my doorstep with a frantic request....a piece of fabric and a RTW Pringle top!! She needs me to sew her a replica of the RTW top for her company Christmas function! Boy this will be interesting, as I have NO pattern drafting knowledge at all!!! I just "wing-it"! Well I'm off to find a BIG piece of paper, pencil and a tape measure...Wish me luck! |

Date: 12/12/09 3:24 PM How did your project turn out? I wish I had seen your post earlier. One way to copy a RTW is to take muslin or some similar fabric and pin it over the RTW along the seam lines. Try to keep the grain of the muslin running with the grain of the RTW piece. Then you take tailors chalk or marking pencil and mark the seam lines and voila! you have a perfect copy. Now if the RTW piece is more draped and complicated, that presents a whole other challenge. Good Luck! ------ still sewing after all these years
