Oh boy, seems like we have been working on these forever haven't we? But finalizing the contests based on 630 votes is not an easy task as you can imagine...

So here's the plan for next year. I'll explain a few things after this list.

As you can see, next year the contests start and end on different dates. This is to prevent them from clashing and to give participants enough time to post and review if they are participating in two different contests.

Quote:
*Rules that apply to all contests:

1. All reviews must be entered for submission by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the contest. Contest dates will be listed for each contest.

2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.

3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!

4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.

Contest Eligibility

1. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the start of a contest is eligible to enter.

2. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the end of a contest is eligible to vote in a contest.

3. Any member who's won 1st place in a contest on Pattern Review ended in the previous 4 months is ineligible to win another contest (for that 4 month period).

PR Challenge Contests
To keep things fresh and to challeng ourselves we've come up with what we are calling PatternReview Challenge Contests. These will be 2 week long contests the criteria for which will only be announced a week before they start to keep the surprise element. They will always begin on the the 1st of the specified month and end on the 14th.

Eligibility to win
Based on your feedback we've decided that anyone who has won the first prize in any contest in the previous 4 months is not eligible for votes (and thus winning) another contest for the next 4 months.

The eligibility to enter any PR contest remains as before.

A Note on Prizes
Next year we are going to do things a little differently. To echo the "surprise" theme, each "regular" contest will have the first prize winner based on reader votes and the second prize winner will be decided based on a random drawing.

In the "Challenge" contests, there will only be one prize winner based on reader votes.

Please join me in thanking the Contest Committee for their hard work in not only compiling this list, analyzing responses, but all their help during 2009 and their continued support and dedication in the coming year.

The contest committee

Karen6790

Sherril Miller

We truly hope that you will like this lineup of contests and participate in many contests!

That looks like a terrific line-up! I'm very excited.

Thanks Deepika, Anne, Karen & Sherril for all your hard work!

Keep me in mind when you need someone to manage a contest. I LOVED doing that for the wardrobe contest this fall. :)

Wow, y'all have been busy! I like the idea of the semi-monthly challenges. You said they will be every other month, but I noticed the schedule says March and April are challenge months... is this correct or an error?

I'm glad to see Active Wear made it, and just in time to burn off all that holiday eating!

Thank you for posting the list and thanks to the ladies of the Contest Committee. I know that there is much work that goes on behind the scenes; the time you put in is very much appreciated.

I've just read the list and it looks like it will be a full year. I have to admit, however, that I'm positively devastated that The Vintage contest is not on the list. I thought that was one of the most popular contests on PR.

I guess life will go on. Happy sewing to all in 2010.

My bad. They start in those specific months not every other month.

Wow, impressive! You guys should take up juggling professionally! Very creative way to get the most out of a "12 months is never enough" calendar year!

So, not that I care particularly, but it looks like next year we'll be taking a little holiday from the Holiday contest. Which actually works fine for me -- with my track record, I should really be doing my holiday sewing in August and September.
