Date: 12/9/09 6:23 AM I will be driving to Montreal for the day this weekend. My husband is there on on business leaving me the entire day to do as I wish. Since shopping where I live is limited (i.e. one shop that sells a limited amount of fabric and quilting supplies and NO needlework shops), I was hoping to indulge myself in some shopping for fabric or cross stitch patterns (my other love). Does anyone have a recommendation for a must-see fabric shop or needlework shop? Thanks so much. |

Date: 12/9/09 5:23 PM Rue St-Hubert starting at Rue Jean-Talon, then north several blocks is Montreal's Fabric Row. About every other shop is a fabric shop. You should be able to get there by Metro if you want to.
I know a few yarn shops (tricot en Francais), but haven't looked for cross-stitch supplies so maybe someone else will answer about that. ------ Fictionfan |

Date: 12/9/09 5:46 PM Yes, rue St Hubert would be the most 'bang for your buck' as far as time goes. You could easily spend quite a few hours up there. Assuming your husband is going to be downtown, you just have to get on the metro and get off at the Jean-Talon stop. St Hubert street is 1 or 2 blocks east of that stop.
For my cross-stitching supplies, I go to Toronto !
There is a needlework shop (Jeanette's) on Queen Mary & Decarie, yarn and needlepoint if I remember correctly. ------ Claire

Date: 12/9/09 6:08 PM Do you know of any yarn shop in Laval? I remember when I was young there was a shop in Terrebonne. I do not know if it is there any more, I should go see when I go home in a few weeks. Hopefully this visit I will get my fabric fix on St-Hubert! Merci beaucoup.
I just rememberd that Club Tissus in Laval has quilting and I think a few cross stich and felting items. It is on Hwy 440 Between HWY 13 and HWY 15. Here is the link to the site. Was happy to see that they did have english for you http://laval.clubtissus.com/en/home/ -- Edited on 12/9/09 6:15 PM -- |

Date: 12/9/09 6:20 PM If you go to rue St-Hubert, make sure you stop at Madeleine Soie & Laine if you like great quality fabric and imported stuff. I always make a stop there when I go to Montreal and always spend too much $$$... ------ http://www.jazz-couture.blogspot.com/

For the PR weekend in Montreal 2010 that will take place form June 18 o 20, Connie BJ, KayY, Rhonda in Montreal, Alex and I have come up with the Montreal fabric shopping dream list. If you send me a private message with your email address, I will send you back the Excel file with all addresses and comments. You can spend a day or 2 in Montreal for fabric shopping.
I hope we can meet for the PR weekend.

Date: 12/10/09 5:50 AM I just signed up for Pattern Review so can't send a PM. But I think I have enough to go on from the suggestions above. I travel to Montreal rarely, but I may now just have an excuse to do so more often. Thanks for all the suggestions. |

Anne-Marie Hello Anne-Marie!
I'm visiting Montreal for the first time this week and would LOVE a copy of the Excel file.
Would you be able to send it to me at lisalovestosew@gmail.com?
Thanks for considering it!
best wishes,
