This seems like a silly question but I bought this pattern because I love the single button jacket with the "triangle collar" The pattern refers to either a stand up or a shawl collar......okay folks, I hate to admit this but I don't know which one is which Can someone help me so I can cut out the proper pattern peices. Thanks.

I believe the burgundy jacket in the pattern photo has the shawl collar and the tweed jacket the stand. I have the pattern and will take a quick look to make sure that's how they're labelled. I'm pretty sure that's right, though.

I agree with ITAdmin, and I have to say, I've run afoul of Simplicity's odd/inaccurate labeling of garment parts before, too. So no embarrassment necessary; neither of those really looks like a true shawl collar to me.

Yep. I took a quick look just to double check. The burgundy is what they're calling the shawl collar. I think I'd call that a wing collar myself, but at any rate, it's the one you want. The stand collar is the one that's cut with two separate pieces. That's a little odd, too, since it doesn't actually have a stand, just upper and under pieces.

Thank you ITAdmin, I appreciate you looking at the pattern for me. I agree, wing collar seems more appropriate. Now I can cut with confidence!

Sitrwaterblue...I am thankful I am not the only one. I am back new to sewing clothes and don't always feel confident! Glad this board is here. Makes my day many times a week.
