Date: 1/3/10 7:27 PM Welcome to 2010 and all the contests therein!
The Lingerie contest is starting soon so let's get the rules figured out, boundaries set, and talk about the best places to find the softest silk, the best elastic, and our favorite patterns!
Rules for this round:
Lingerie Contest
January 15 through February 14, 2010
Make Your Own Lingerie
For this contest, sew some lingerie. Lingerie, for purposes of this contest, is defined as intimate apparel for women. Intimate apparel is clothing what would be worn as a base layer (underwear / knickers, bras) or nightwear appropriate for intimate situations. The contest manager has final say on if a garment qualifies as 'lingerie'.
You may enter individual items or sets. More than one entry per person is allowed.
A picture of the final garment(s) is required for voting. You do not need to model the garments, but can do so if appropriate. Please remember that this is a family friendly site! Any pictures that are questionable will have the links removed.
Considerations for voting at the end of the contest:
- Does the lingerie style match the fabric chosen?
- Is the lingerie attractive?
*Rules that apply to all contests:
1. All reviews must be entered for submission by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the contest. Contest dates will be listed for each contest.
2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.
3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!
4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.
Contest Eligibility
1. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the start of a contest is eligible to enter.
2. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the end of a contest is eligible to vote in a contest.
3. Any member who's won 1st place in a contest on Pattern Review ended in the previous 4 months is ineligible to win another contest (for that 4 month period).

Date: 1/3/10 7:33 PM I'm realy interested in this contest.
I spent $38 on a lacy teddy from Victoria's Secret the other day. $38 for less than a yard of fabric!!! I had a gift card that I had to use, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. $38 bucks. Can you believe that? ------ http://theramblingsoftcm.blogspot.com/

Date: 1/3/10 11:50 PM No offense to anyone, but when I think lingerie, I do NOT think of flannel footie pajamas. I think it should be limited to bra/panty sets and well, lingerie, for women. I think the prior post's robe should count too, as long as you don't plan to make it out of flannel (or fleece). -- Edited on 1/3/10 11:51 PM -- |

Date: 1/4/10 2:59 PM Hi everyone,
since I mostly sew my lingerie as sets (bra+panties), it would be cool if we could enter those as "master review" to the contest, like in the wardrobe contest (with links to the individual garments). So that there are not so many single-piece reviews.
And I would never ever post pics of me wearing only a bra on the internet... and from those photoedited pics with a worn bra only (and a retouched person, like this e.g.), one can't really judge the fit. So I guess this contest will be about how pretty one finds the garments, not about the fit.
I'm really looking forward for the other rules,
Bye, Ulrike |

Date: 1/4/10 5:28 PM I am so excited!!! i sew mostly night clothes. No one else will see the crazy flaws i think it would be nice to have just womens lingerie but i do think it should include long johns and thermal tops. i have been waiting to draft a night gown and i think now is the time i would also like to be able to enter a bra and pantie set as one, but how does that work? also i would like to know can we enter more than once? ------ if a little voice inside says dont buy that fabric you have so much, you know your not pushing the cart with the loud wheel to the cutting counter fast enough! |

Date: 1/4/10 6:26 PM So in a welcome change from the last time I managed a contest the rules committee rather than the individual moderator is responsible for coming up with the rules and definitions. Believe me, this is a very, very good thing. They're still working on the last details and I'd rather not give any information that could change within the next day or so but for those of you anxious to get your plans planned out here's a hint: if its soft and silky and rather sexy you can't go wrong. :) ------ Kit
