I've lost track of the several topics for us members in So Cal and thought I'd put up one just for general conversation and coordination! I need to stay motivated with my sewing/designing business, so getting together with other sewists for inspiration would be great! Chime in if you have ideas for get togethers, events we can go to, a proposed shopping excursion, or just want to chat.

For starts, is anyone going to the ASG meeting in Orange County tomorrow, Jan 8th? I just joined and will be going - hoping to meet some other sewists and keep my enthusiasm up for my sewing/design business.

I just rejoined after being a free member and not using the site for awhile... wondered if there were still many So. Cal participants!
Did you go to the ASG meeting? There are several (I thought) in OC, a friend prefers the Newport Beach group based on what's being sewn.

Karrol, I was thinking about attending that meeting and then I got busy with life. I forgot about it. It's nice to see both you and Karen here. So Karrol, tell us about the meeting.

Well, I actually never made it. Life got too complicated right then. But I've paid my $40, so I intend to go to meetings. Newport Beach is closer than Garden Grove so I'm ok with that too. Karen, let me know if you want to go together. And Sherril, we need another outing in the garment district!

She's lost. She thought why not be productive and sort fabric. Opened her armoire and fabric spilled out and covered her. It took many months of digging, debating over which fabrics were okay to actually step on to get out but low and behold she has arisen. Still stash swamped with more unrealistic sewing goals for the new year.

I'm here. Personal life kicked my butt at the second half of last year.

I'm getting ready to head out on holiday but already penciled in a stay at home sewing day in February. I'm game for getting together but trying not to shop. So can we just eat instead?

Goals for 2010:
- reduce stash
- purge stash
- sew a frickin' corset
- new ren faire costume (for ren faire)
- gothic lolita costume (for fun)
- steampunk ball gown (for Costume College in Aug.)
- actually finish at least one of the insane goals?

Cat, sounds like you've got big plans this year. Nice to see you're still around. Karrol, I'd love to meet up in the garment district, but like Cat, I think I'd rather eat. I'm working on sewing strictly from my stash this year.

Hey Cat! Nice to hear from ya! Yeah, my last 5 months were pretty ridiculous. Got laid off, sewed a bunch of stuff for sale, did a booth at a show in San Diego, met a guy, spent way too much time with him, broke up, blah blah blah. Concentrating on getting a new job and working on the Kiki von Tiki business now that the new year is underway. So probably best for me not to shop either till I have $. Got a huge stash too, so I'm sewing from that as well.
I'm hoping to get out to more ASG meetings and such just to help me concentrate on the sewing part of my business. I don't have a lot of room, but you're all welcome to come over here for a stitch and bitch anytime! Bring projects and food!
