Date: 1/16/10 1:29 PM My BL dealer just got one in and held it for me. It's a heavy little foot! It looks like a stitch-in-ditch foot, with the metal guide in the middle (not adjustable).
On the sole of the foot are two "runners" (think "sleigh"), one on each side, 1/4" wide and running the length of the foot. These "runners" have an independent levelling system! Each runner can move up and down, front only, back only, or entire runner, independent of the other runner, so when crossing uneven fabrics (at seams, for example) the foot remains level! The bottoms of the runners look & feel like they're teflon-coated.
I love love love this foot!!!
It's for BLCS only, according to the little label (foot came in a plastic baggie, not the usual retail box and was given to my dealer by her supplier.) It may work on the Evolve/Evolution, she didn't try it. She (dealer) has no info on the foot, her supplier gave it to her as an afterthought and was rushing out the door.
Anyone have this foot? There's no info on the BL site.
What a very good day this has been!

Date: 1/19/10 8:35 AM LynneRowe, Thanks for the heads up about this new BLCS foot. I love the idea of something new for this machine that makes it even better! Is there a name or product number for this foot? What did it cost? I called to see if my dealer had any information, and they're going to get back to me, but I'm assuming they'll ask me for more specifics. Also, how have you used it?
gdgtmma, I'm not LynnRowe but can tell you that the clear foot for the BLCS is very nice to have - just as it is for the BLIW.

Date: 1/19/10 10:43 AM Yes I do have the clear foot and love it. I always begin my coverstitch in a seam, so I know exactly where to stop, but the clear foot makes it even easier to stop exactly where you started.
I am at work right now but will post the BLCS product number when I go home for lunch. I have tried the foot, and it really glides across the fabric. When crossing seams, you don't even realize you're crossing a seam, with the self-leveller "runners" on the foot! It's just cool.
I haven't tried it over thick seams yet. Soon as I get some time, I'll swatch & seam some denims & try the foot over that. ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! Date: 1/19/10 3:17 PM That foot sounds very interesting. How thoughtful of your dealer to keep it aside for you.
And on a side note...did you manage to pick up some clean needles while at your dealers

Date: 1/19/10 7:32 PM Thanks, LynnRowe. My dealer was stumped when I stopped by to ask earlier today, and he left a message for someone at Babylock to get back to him. In the meantime, I just gave him your product number. I'm really curious to learn what he finds out! |

Date: 1/19/10 10:01 PM I just tried it as a "stitch in the ditch" sorta foot. The wing in the middle isn't prominent enough to use as a guide, but I tried it out for 2 needle thread topstitching along a t-shirt neckband, with one needle on the binding and one on the body of the t-shirt, with the wing (if it were more prominent, like a true stitch in ditch foot, or a blind hem foot) running along the joining seam (ditch).
Because of the self-levelling runners, the foot stayed level, even though one runner was on top of the t-shirt body and serged joining seam underneath, and the other was on the neck binding.
I still don't know what this foot is for, in particular, but I really like it! -- Edited on 1/19/10 10:02 PM -- ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life!
