Date: 1/18/10 7:46 PM After waiting what has felt like forever today the seminar list was posted on the Sewing Show website .
My mail was late and low and behold the printed schedule was in the mail.
I have not yet decided which classes to take, but will try to get into Ron Collins Blouse Class on the Thursday.
I was disappointed that Jan Bones will not be teaching (and I guess not having a booth), but she will be in Nanaimo at the end of April, so I will try to get into that class instead.
And most important who is interested in meeting for dinner Friday night? The show falls in the middle of Spring Break, so we will definitely need a reservation wherever we go. ------ Proud parent of a Dwight International School Honour Roll Student |

Date: 1/24/10 2:19 PM Hi, Michelle. I don't think I will be attending this year. I highy recommend the Ron Collins Blouse Class as I did it last year, but be warned now that you must purchase the Vogue pattern he uses in advance. I ended up tracing off of Wanda's as I could not find one in Victoria. (The pre-workshop info did not say to buy the pattern.)
There was not much that is new or of interest to me this year, and as I have not sewn up all the fabric I bought last year, I think I will just pass and try and get the sewing mojo happening soon. I am in that mode where I cannot spend more until I use up some of what I already have! ------ Cheers,

Date: 1/31/10 2:48 PM Hi Michelle,
I will be attending the conference. Don't usually take many classes but I plan to go to Patrice Godin's session as I'm interested in boning, corsetry and costumes.
I'm in for dinner on Friday.

Date: 2/2/10 9:15 PM Hi Michelle,
You can count me in for dinner. Where ever you would like to go is fine with me.
I won't be attending the evening fashion show this year as it looks like the same one we all saw last year by Kayla Kennington, but I still like going out for dinner Friday.
Like Tweedcurtain, I have done hardly any sewing this year.
Have tons of fabric as I was ordering from fabric.com in the Fall and Winter. Anyhow I bet I will still see something I want to buy at the show.
I got my list in the mail awhile back but haven't enrolled in any classes yet. Not sure if I will enroll in anything ahead of time. I may just take my chances when I get there for getting in a few classes.
Thank you for starting the thread.

Date: 2/11/10 9:22 PM Hi Annie
I am going to the show Friday, and hopefully Saturday also.
If you are taking the Ron Collins Saturday class, I believe it will be on Tailored Jacket Techniques according to the Show brochure that runs from 9:15 - 12:45.
The shirt techniques class is listed for Friday and the jacket techniques for Saturday. I have taken various classes of his in the past and enjoyed them all - so I'm sure which ever one you end up in you will like it.
It would be nice if a few PR members could get together Saturday also. I am still not sure exactly which classes I will be enrolled in. Anyhow, there is a cute little Bistro type coffee/sandwich shop right next to the Show Conference Centre which would be good for lunch or coffee. There is also a cafeteria style set up in the conference centre, and various other places near by that are good for lunch or dinner.
I will touch base with you here on the thread again prior to the show, hope we can get together. Depending on what classes I end up in I will be trying to see the Kayla Kennington Artwear Trunk show - that is a free fashion show that runs from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm both Friday & Saturday - don't know if it will be Friday or Sat that I see it.
If anyone else out there is interested for coffee/lunch/dinner on Saturday please let us know.

Date: 2/12/10 9:52 PM OMG - you are so right, I don't know where my head's at. It's been a busy and somewhat stressful week.... I'll be at the Victoria show on the Friday, so dinner and or lunch would great. |

I may want to come up from Seattle and may bring some friends too.
Are the 2 hotels within walking distance of the Convention Centre?
Any other tips for us?

Date: 2/17/10 1:18 AM Hi Sally,
The Convention Centre is pretty much attached to the Empress Hotel and the Executive House Hotel is not far away, just across the street and about a small block away. Lots of hotels and restaurants close by. Gala Fabrics on Douglas St. is about a 20 minute walk from the Centre and worth a visit. Button and Needlework Boutique is on View St. also worth checking out. Merle |
