Date: 1/31/10 8:31 PM Hi everyone-
As I posted below, I am looking for a new machine. I test drove the MC6600 today. There was a lot that I liked about the machine, and the dealer seems great. But... they quoted me $1800! without any extras! Can anyone has this machine tell me what they paid and what extras, if any, they got?
Thanks!

Date: 2/1/10 7:07 AM Kristen, that seems high to me also. Have you checked the reviews for this machine? There should be loads of them and the price paid is listed. I haven't looked at the reviews but something under $1500 would be considered a "good" deal. I bought the Elna clone (7300) for $1100 NIB. Some dealers were selling the 6600 WITH the nice table for around $1600 and the table retails for $299. I don't know if you have many dealers near you, but I'd definitely shop around! |

Date: 2/1/10 10:52 AM Your quote does seem high. I just bought my MC660 last November and got the machine, the table (very nice and sturdy) and a couple extra feet for about $1400. Try "dealing" with your local shop. If you buy from them, then you usually get free lessons. I've learned a few neat new things from my lessons that I would not have if bought on line and they are not in the instruction book. Good luck! |

Date: 2/1/10 11:01 AM Ok, after hearing from y'all and calling around, I am convinced that this price is way too high!
But how do I negotiate? Tell him I found a lower price elsewhere? What are the tried and true sewing machine negotiating tactics? |

Date: 2/1/10 11:15 AM I paid $1899 plus tax almost two years ago. No accessories but the dealer gives individual classes for one year. I believe his price is just about the same now. ------ ~Diana~

Date: 2/1/10 12:14 PM Maybe just let him know in calling around, you see where quite a few have purchased the machine packaged WITH the $300 table for less than that. Then ask him to call you when it next goes on sale. Might mention that what you're seeing is really significant difference--about $500! This way, you'll know just how much he will come down. Tell him you'll pay $xxx and give him an opportunity to accept or decline it. Fact is, you can easily save at least several hundred by shopping around anyway so no harm done if refuses your offer. |
