Date: 2/17/10 0:38 AM Hi everyone, I am in need of a little help...I am working on 5247 a very popular and easy pattern. One in which, I have sewn and reviewed...However, I am attempting another view, which has a differnet cutting layout...The collar pattern is extending off the fabric...My question is am I to cut everything first and then come back and cut this piece on the fold because there is a fold bracket on the pattern piece? Or do I cut as a single layer...I am confused please help lol |

Date: 2/17/10 7:00 AM Yes, you are correct. The collar piece extending off the fabric means to open the fabric after other pieces are cut and then cut the collar in one layer. It may show two collar pieces to be cut in one layer, for the undercollar. If you have enough fabric and do not follow the layout this collar could be cut out with the center line placed on the fold. BTW, To ensure exact matching shapes, some patterns call for the undercollar to be cut in two separate pieces with a center line, so that both the right and left follow the same grain pattern. |
