Hi,

I love this new skirt by Miu Miu but of course - want to make my own for a lot cheaper! Have any of you seen any fabric close to this? I can't go to Mood in NYC or anywhere like that to search. Haven't found anything online so far but I'm still searching.,

Since you live in North Carolina, the furniture capital of the World, you should check some of the many home dec fabric outlets in your state. The large and exhuberant print reminds me of home dec fabrics. Of course, you'll need to make sure the fabric you choose is very lightweight and supple. Good luck.

I agree with Nancy that it looks like a home dec fabric. If you are anywhere near Mary Jo's in Gastonia you could try there. You can also e-mail them to see if they have something close, or could probably e-mail Mood as well.

I'd keep an eye on Emmaonesock for something like this. She often has amazing silk prints that are pretty unique, as is this. She gets new things all the time and she has a just in box that makes it fast to check.

Beautiful skirt!!

I searched a few websites(Mood has an online stor, FYI) bet did not see this fabric. Gorgeous Fabrics has many nice prints, here's a cotton that would make a very nice skirt...http://www.gorgeousfabrics.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=5203

Good luck with your search!

I haven't actually used them because they're kinda expensive ($18-32/yard), but if you can't find what you're looking for and have any skill at all with digital graphics, Spoonflower is always an option.

ETA: Spoonflower doesn't do silk.. mostly just cotton, plus a cotton-linen blend and a cotton-bamboo blend. Does seem kinda strange, I'd think that the target audience willing to pay for custom printed fabric would also be likely to want silk. Of course, maybe the process is different or something.

Nancy2001, Maggiedoll, NancyK, emergcy1,Judy,

I appreciate all of your replies. I shop often at decorator fabric stores in many towns of NC - mostly large designs, florals in chintz, plaids, nothing in silk - which I am sure this fabric must be. Rarely do I find anything except a dupioni or a brocade at a decorator fabric store that I can use for clothing.

I have shopped online at Emmaonesock and just ordered a bunch of knits and lace stuff onsale at Gorgeous Fabrics - can't wait to get that order - it is my first purchase from them. I check that site often for interesting fabric.

Yes, Mood is online - but so far I haven't found anything like this print.

Never been to Spoonflower - I'll check it out!

As far as Gastonia - part of my family used to live in Kings Mountain and I went there a lot. Haven't been in years and never been to Mary Jos (can't see the past post to check that name spelling?)

I'm going to continue to search through Mood and maybe call them and ask if they have anything similar. I hate it when I find something I just "have to have!!"

Good evening all,

Denise
