DD11 is needing a bra, more for modesty sake rather than support right now and I'm having trouble finding any patterns for such. She is just budding, but will probably need some support soon, especially as middle school approaches next year. Having never worn a bra, she's going to have to try different styles to see what works for her. I'll probably start her with RTW if we can find it, but would like to make her some out of my billions of yards of stash. I think she's leaning more toward a camisole, with built in bra support as she needs it, but I think she'll like some "regular" type bras also.

I'm looking for patterns for soft cup training bras, sports bras, and camisoles with built in bra support in girls sizes. She wears a 12/14 slim RTW top. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

My DD started with a "sports bra" from Target, and refuses to wear anything else now, 3 years later. She wears the Champion brand , in the kids section. The XS in the women's dept is too big in the rib cage. I like the fabric, and they are much stretchier than fabric you can buy.

If she let me, I would make a few camis with the built in shelf for her to wear. They are very "in " and you see girls and hip young women wearing them to layer under tops. HTH!

Look at Kwik sew 3301. they have others also. You should have no trouble finding something RTW at the size she is now. They have lots to choose from and she will probably want something similar to what her friends are wearing. First bras are a very big deal to most young girls. RTW becomes a problem if she develops alot but does not get any wider around. Both of my daughters are very skinny but have considerable cleavage so we have to special order.

My dd is also 11 and has been wearing a bra and a cami for the past year or so. She is beyond the bud stage and now into ladies sizing.

DD is developing very quickly. I only buy 2 bras at a time as they may only fit for a month or so before she is up a size.

I may eventually make her bras, but for now I am finding ones that fit her at Zellers (a Canadian discount dept store) for around $10.00 each. Depending on style she is a 32B or 34A/B.

Prior to ladies sizing I could find ones that fit in the girls dept. Her favs are ones with underwires.

She also is a cami queen with about a dozen. The ones with a shelf bra do not have the support she needs.

I will be making her camis as she loves them and has grown out of a ladies small, which I could often find marked down.

This pattern is out of print, but you might look for it on ebay, or other internet search:

Our problem is that my daughter is a swimmer, so she had fairly broad shoulders/chest. The bra's in her size are all padded! She is much too young to be trying to accentuate her bust, but we cannot find anything that is not padded in the small cup sizes because she needs a large band size. Any suggestions for patterns?

I don't have any pattern suggestions but wanted to share my experiences with my 11yr old DD. She started with sports bras in 4th grade..since the other girls were wearing them and then she had to have a regular bra just for the sake of having the back strap impression show through shirt and also because the girls changed together for gym....she will be 12 next week and we just went up to a 34A--she is my baby---so hard to see all this budding! LOL She also went from a size 7 to 9 womens shoe in 4 months time, plus grew 2 inches cha-ching LOL

Have you looked at jalie 2564. I have just ordered it for my daughter for the same reason. I have not tested it out yet but the reviews look pretty favourable.

Do you have a specialty bra shop in your area? That's what we had to do with both of my daughters. They had every bra imaginable there. Thankfully my younger one can finally wear a 34 band. Yay! Now I can get her bras cheaper. Older one will still be going to the bra shop as she is wearing a 32EE and you just don't find that at K Mart.
